Do some states call it a "permit"?

In Florida it is called a license, and deservedly so, since by our "rights", they are not "permitting" us anything.
Just wondering if any states actually call it a permit?

Here in Erie County New York it is called a "permit". NY has gone to the dogs a long time ago. The democrats have ruined this once great state. We are among the most heavily taxed states in the union if not the heaviest taxed state. Our governor just announced a 6.8 Billion dollar budget shortfall for the upcoming budget. Stay away from NY if you know what's good for you. If the taxes don't kill you the marauding horde of welfare receiving do-nothings will. I wonder how those of us who work hard an pay our taxes are going to have to pay for this latest fiscal mess. The welfare crowd will do nothing and stand there with their hand out demanding more. This place makes me sick to my stomach and if it weren't for the fact that my family is all here and my professional license is in NY I would be on the first plane to a good God-fearing Bible belt red state.

Personally, I don't really care what you call it.......it's still the act of invoking permission to exercise a right. I could probably swallow the concealed "license" issue, provided that the exercise of OPENLY bearing that firearm was recognized.....but thanks to that shakey jake broad, Janet Reno, our courageous legislature saw fit to outlaw what'd been commonly practiced (even tho under "license") for all of Florida's history up to 1987.

Yeah, it's no doubt superior in philosophy to those laws existing in certain jurisdictions, but it still sticks in ones craw...........far better we occupy the same position that Virginia does, even tho that's not quite as good as Alaska or Vermont, it still has gotta beat the hell out of the N.Y. or N.J. versions.

License/Permit...........really, there IS no difference........by either standard that "permission/licensure" can be cancelled and the "right" removed..........Tougher in Florida than the others, but still less that 'ticket' you are toast!

Think about it, do you have to get a 'license' to vote, speak, or go to church??

Virginia has a Concealed Handgun Permit. No license or permit required for open carry.
