Yeah, I can't figure out why WY recognizes MI and yours in TN and not ours. My Nephew is in ND and I was really liking to travel a few states in that area when I visit him. Looks like I'm gonna avoid WY for the time being.

I'm really hoping Nebraska will get on board soon and recognize some states. Then I can drive through Nebraska and avoid Iowa and still be ok.

What's really weird is that FL issues a non-resident permit but doesn't recognize anyone traveling on a non-resident permit and MO recognizes all states permits, including non-residents but won't issue a non-resident permint.

Crap. This really sucks.

I had wanted to go to VA to see one of the ships I was stationed on while in the Navy. It is a museum in down town Norfolk now. USS Wisconsin.

I wonder why this action was taken by VA? What could we have done?

I had a email exchange with VSP last Spring. They said that the permit is recognized by VSP for the term of the permit even if you take up residency elsewhere. One would need to re-apply for a non-resident permit after the resident permit expires.

It was there earlier this year. I think Tennessee's absence on the list must be fairly recently for Mr. Slider to have noticed and post about it.

To Mr. Slider, thank you for the heads-up.

This may not be true, because I have only been to Bristol one time in my life, but around here, we have always been told that the state line passes right down the middle of one street. Thus one side of the street is TN, and the other side Va. If this is true, a Tn resident could violate Virginia CC law by just crossing that street
Ironically, this street you mention is State St.

I did my time in TN and VA (college). Didn't care much for VA but enjoyed TN a lot.

You easterners are too much! All states should be like Idaho, easy to get a permit, and recognize all others.

In a way I feel that states should only recognize those that recognize theirs, a true reciprocity, And yes, TN should return the favor.

Just a suggestion guys......let's get some e-mails going to the VSP first to get more information, then get the e-mails going to our state reps.

Anytime a carry right is lost it hurts ALL of us, not just the state(s) involved.

I for one see this as a small pebble which could eventually turn into an avalanche, especially with the possibility of a more restrictive administration right around the corner. Don't blow it off as a "small" thing.

Food for thought.

Got a reply from Maria C. Lucas at the VSP this morning and as of 10:00 am CST, the Virginia website has Tennessee listed again as a recognized state.

Woot!

Here's the link:Virginia State Police
