Well, at first I was all gun-ho about it and carried my gun with a knife and a couple extra mags. I was in the market for a sweet flashlight but they are expensive as crap.

I got tired of trying to dress around my stuff and I was running out of pocket space.

Now, I usually just carry my snubby and possibly a reload for it.

A Thought...

Remember as a kid, Mom admonishing you to "Wear clean undies in case something happens and you end up in the Emergency Room?" (Or some variation there-of?) We might consider what the EMS/Police might think they've caught if they pick up an accident victim that has five knives, three guns with two/three re-loads for each, OC spray, Tazer, Ninja key-fob, tactical flashlights in every pocket, extension baton.....
I'm not insulting anyone; I mean what my sign-off says ("Stay safe...") and whatever it takes for you to feel secure is right for you, but we also need to "protect" ourselves from the authorities.
Not bashing you LEO's here, either, but you know that if you found someone that prepared, you'd be on edge wondering what you might have overlooked, that could hurt you or your partner.
Even if there's nothing to charge you with, you're likely in for the hassle of your life (short of shooting some-one, which would get "interesting" during the shake-down!) before the Police returned all your gear.
(As far as the clean undies: I figure that if I got hit by a car they wouldn't be clean when I was retrieved, anyways. )

Stay safe,

Chuck Brick.

Chuck Brick, I completely understand what you are getting at. My best friend is a cop and says that some of his fellow officers would FREAK OUT. He also tells me of the ones that carry four guns and six knives (my heroes LOL J/K). I don't have a long gun in my car (most of the time), and a radio to call for backup either. I don't carry the long guns in my car because I don't want to loose them if my car is stolen/broken into, but I don't want to leave them at home in case they are stolen. Sigh, if only I could miniaturize them. Anyway, you can't use them if you don't have them.

I often think what would happen if I got one of those freak-out cops. My cop friend got one a while back even though he was a cop and he only had a Glock 27 in an ankle holster. I guess if I had a car that could go 200 mph, I'd be viewed suspiciously too. Unfortunately, everybody is a criminal to some cops. Legally they wouldn't be able to do anything since I'd be breaking no laws. I've been stopped once with only one knife and gun on me (the rest was in my go bag beside me) and the deputy just had me stand by my trunk. I was wearing SmartCarry and I don't think he wanted any of that.

Say IF I was ever involved in a self defense shooting, would they take ALL my stuff, or just what I used?

If you saved the cop himself, you'd still have to face arrest procedures. At least, be prepared to.

Stay safe,

Chuck Brick.

I'm going to try to stay within the bounds of the rules here, but I would suggest you try swapping a day or two with Opfor and see if you still believe that to be the case... just a thought...

DC's bad, but it ain't that bad. I live and work a few minutes outside DC and try my best not travel to or through it at all costs...and yes I still refer to the river and other surrounding border areas of the district of crime as the DMZ.

edit:
oh yeah...my edc stuff...
1 kimber 1911 plus 1 spare mag is usual..sometimes 2 mags...sometimes
1 kershaw leek
1 swiss army knife
1 modified Inova X5 flashlight (darn those expensive lithium batteries
6' of paracord rolled/tied up neat and tidy, bits of wire, paperclips, string etc...(hey...don't laugh...it always comes in handy!)
keys on a lanyard (great flailing weapon)
Wallet of course

I usually keep it simple. It's hard enough for me to dress around my EDC sometimes especially in the summer heat, and I'm not willing to change what I wear completely just to allow cover for extra items.

I am always with:
-My primary gun (XDsc)
-Flashlight (Surefire G3)
-A folding pocket knife

Every once in a while, depending on what I'm wearing that day, I will throw in an extra magazine. I'm going to go out and buy some OC soon as well.

When winter comes around and I can throw on a few more layers (or coats with pockets) I may add a BUG and OC.

Kershaw knife and either my p-6 or my p-226 and no spare ammo.. just can,t think of a situation where I would need more than what is in the mag...I know I'll catch flak for that statement .
