Am I reading that right. 5.5% of the over 21 population of Washington applied for a concealed-weapons permit THIS year? That is huge. Love to know what percent of the population already has a concealed weapons permit

No.

License holders jumped from about 179,000 to 258,000, 43 percent, between 2003 and 2007.
That's the total number of holders, which helps answer your second question.

Washington QuickFacts from the US Census Bureau

2006 census = 6,395,798 population

I don't know where the 21 & over number came from does someone have a source?

Washington - Fact Sheet - American FactFinder

Over 18 = 4,867,922

25 & over = 4,253,582

I'd love to find numbers for 21 & over for use elsewhere.

Great article. Usually they will have some idiot telling everyone how the goverment can take his guns from his cold dead hands or some other crazy hillbilly speech. Sure Its true but it makes us look like idiots

This article is going to a couple I know. It definatly makes us look more human and regular which I believe is what the need to see.

We don't want trouble but we sure won't be helpless when it comes to call.

This area is great, but unfortunatly its getting crowded!

Not me I looked too. I could not even find confirmation of the number of permit holders

HEY NOW What is wrong with hillbillys? Or crazy for that matter, you all normal people are boring.

Good thing they did not interview me because, they will have to climb over the bodies to get pry my empty gun from my cold dead hands, I am not going to hell alone

Joking, sorta ....not really
