In my small town I tend to play pretty loose with these rules, and tend to think along the lines of concealed is concealed. For example, the wife and I frequent a sports bar for dinner, I will sit at a table in the bar area, but will not sit at the bar. In Orlando, I would probably avoid the bar area all together as it could get pretty messy if you were spotted. I would however feel fine eating in the above mentioned Outback as long as I was not in the little bar area. Just ask for a window seat and most people will not question you as to why
Going by Gutmacher's book (Florida Firearms), the seating in the bar area is a no-go.

Just did Disney with the wife for our anniversary.

Neither of us carried, but we both made sure everyone there new how we felt :)

If you have no bags, you won't be searched. I did not see any no-gun signs, but I know they have a no-gun policy. It is probably in the fine print somewhere.

In FL, no-gun signs and policies can only be enforced via trespass law... so if you decide to carry (I would advise against it) know what to do if you are made:

Do whatever you can do to get off of Disney property as fast as you can. Don't take the monorail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. If they try and detain you, ask them if you are free to leave, and tell them you wish to leave immediately.

I don't think its worth it though... I mean, if you are on the Aerosmith roller coaster (which is awesome) and you lose your sidearm, that would totally suck, and there'd be no chance of getting it back.

Leave your gun in a lockbox hidden in your car.

WDW no problem! I've carried there. They don't search if you don't have a bag. I pocket carried my P3AT, so no worries concealing.

Guns in Mickyville

I have lived in Orlando since 1999, and go in and out of DW. The bar issue is that if you are in a place where only booze is sold, it is off limits. Disney has only one pure bar that I know of - Gellyrolls - at Epcot.

Disney is looking for explosives, not concealed weapons. I carry all the time there.

In places where booze is sold, my rule is don't sit at the bar. We sit at tables, my wife drinks the booze, and everybody is happy.

The only limit to keep in mind is that carrying inside the terminal at MCO is illegal. Parking lots, mass transit, are all ok. The big problem I have is dealing with sweat and magazines.

Have been to the Mouse House many many times. You could take anything you want as long as it is not in a bag. You every see the video when the kids pulls guns out of everwhere. They look half ass into the searched bags. I will be carrying this Feb when I go back. Safe in the MH but parts of Orlando not so great.

My Experience

Went to WDW Orlando a few years back. Took my Gunvault & left it in the room; nobody said a word. Carried concealed into the Magic Kingdom; again, no problem. Rest of the week, my wife & I left our weapons in the Gunvault unless we went off WDW property.

FWIW, I wouldn't carry into the parks themselves. If you get made, they DO have the right to rescind/revoke your ticket/pass. That'll screw up your vacation almost as bad as an arrest! If you do decide to carry, DEEP concealment should be employed.....

I haven't had a chance the carry at WDW, but I've carried at Busch Gardens. PPS in SmartCarry. I don't see why it wouldn't work at WDW as well.

Define "portion". A nightclub, bar, sports bar, dance club, whatever, you can carry there. I'd say if there is not a easily defined bar "area" then a 20' buffer zone from the bar (where they pour the drinks) should work. If you are in Joe's Bar which consists of a large room and the bar is 50 yards away, how could you be in that "portion"? Seriously. The other day I ate at Beef O'Brady's. The booth I was sitting in was in the same room as the bar and was about 16"-20" away. And do you know what? When I came and left I walked about 12" away. How was I in that portion that's primary purpose was the dispensation of alcohol?

Bottom line, then, is you are at the mercy of the State's Attorney to determine what s/he thinks the law says.

Your choice-be the test case. I have also made those kinds of decisions, but it is playing with fire depending on your county and who determines whether or not to press the issue.

Come on down, you're gonna' love the GunShine State. We've been here for almost nine years now...been to WDW 1/2 a dozen times...CCW is NOT a problem...concealed is concealed.

Now the MOUSE doesn't like guns, but there is nothing illegal about having a MOUSE GUN in your pocket, or an IWB holster with your EDC...either way, you're good to go...

I carry in all restaurants, but not bars...nothing tricky about that.

Other posters from FL have clearly explained it...

Stay armed...enjoy the sun...stay safe!

Thanks for the comments.

I'll likely not carry at WDW, but certainly will off Disney property. Of course, we'll be in restaurants that serve alcohol, but I'll stay clear of the bar area.

We're looking forward to the visit, my fourth to Disney and Sea World. This time it's with wife and our 9 year old granddaughter, so it's going to be fun to treat her to this special trip.
