Michigan age to possess/carry OC Spray???

I've been looking around for a while and can't find anything, but I think I've seen something that makes possession of OC Spray illegal for a minor (under 18).

My kids like to walk our dog, but unfortunately at 15 lbs, he looks like food to other dogs who often enough aren't fenced or chained. I would like to attach a spray to his least so whoever is walking has it (at least one dog is lucky that he backed down when I put myself between him and my dog and postured/played protective alpha male).

Michigan law : "A person shall not sell a self-defense spray or foam device to a minor. A person who violates this subsection is guilty of a misdemeanor."

This deals only with sale to a minor ?? Check with local police as to allowing minor to use..

MACE brand does have a MICHIGAN LEGAL spray for use with dogs. It is called MUZZLE and might be a viable option.

I would def. check with the local police.

Maybe that's an easier option...to use something called "dog deterrent." Might be any different in the letter of the law, but perhaps might be looked at as less "weapony???" Dunno, I don't want to turn my kids into felons, I figure they'll take care of that all by themselves.:)

I haven't had any luck at all with my local police department. Their standard answer for everything has been "you can't do that"- even when the law clearly says different.

The law in MI is not a brand name or intended use, it's a specific OC content. Maximum is 2%. Bear spray or dog spray that is over 2% is illegal in MI. I know of a few places that sell the 10% stuff but that's stupid and risky.

I carry Fox 5.3. It's 2% OC and legal in MI. I suggest that.
