Question about FL Non-Res
I got my packet today in the mail for my FL non-resident permit
Not to mention I got my doe tag in the mail with it... it was a happy mail day for me Anyway I open the packet with my FL application and none of it says anything about non-resident permits, even though the packet has my Pennsylvania address on it Is the FL application one blanket application for all and they just assume you are a non-resident when you send it back? When I applied for my Maine non-resident they had a separate application for non-residents. Am I missing something here? Or is it really just one application? Also does NM honor FL permits? It says it doesn't honor non-resident permits on carryconcealed.net, but says it does on handgunlaw... I looked at the NM attorney general website and didn't turn up much. My cousin lives out there and I'd like to be able to carry. I know about how the Utah permit is better, but I don't have the time for the Utah specific class and I already have all the stuff I need for my FL non-resident (NRA basic pistol safety), so this will have to do for now. It picks up the two states that count to me anyways, DE and OH.

Florida only issues one type of permit - a Concealed Weapon or Firearm License.
Everything you ever wanted to know about Florida CWFLs: Concealed Weapons or Firearm Program - Division of Licensing, FDACS Matt

As far as the blanket permit question, the answer is yes. I moved to florida from NY about 3 months ago. I filled out my permit application back in march. I had the same question and called FL and I was told that the only thing that makes the permit "non resident" is the address on it.

Florida's site suggests NM does honor FL CWFLs.
Concealed Carry Reciprocity - Division of Licensing, DOACS Some states only honor Florida CWFLs issued to Florida residents, but there is no mention of this restriction for NM. NM DPS lists Florida as a recognized permit, no mention about non-res status. http://www.dps.nm.org/lawEnforcement/ccw/ Might need to call or write them. Matt

Right click it to download it and then view it. It's a list of the same states as on the website here: New Mexico DPS | Concealed & Carry Information

All FL permits are the same...look the same...it's just that your home address is on the permit...if it's an out of state address...then you may consider it a non-resident permit...some other states will not honor that type of permit (about 5-6 states do not recognize out of state permits.)

On carry concealed it says NM does honor FL permits... but under the multi-CCL link it does not list NM ![]() U.S. CCW Reciprocity Map from CarryConcealed.net If you select FL non-resident NM doesn't show up.
