I really thought that SC would never recognize FL because our training requirements include military service.
Actually SC does too.

I don't think it needs a resolution. I personally wouldn't want an inexperienced CCer from using a gun near me or my family.
I support completely the 2nd amendment but carrying is a different story.
Not trying to start a controversy, just how I feel.

Could you elaborate on this for me? Thanks.

As a GA resident, I agree and wish we DID require training to get a license. I have no problem proving my past training nor my proficiency with firearms. But the fact we don't isn't stopping other states that require training from reciprocating with GA (Tennessee, for example).

Some states require proof of firearms training. I believe some are very specific in their requirements, such as a certified CCW or LEO course. Others are less specific, requiring anything that proves you've been trained (military experience, for example). Others just require you to shoot on a range and demonstrate proficiency. But some, like GA, don't require anything at all. You can apply for and receive your CCW without ever having *touched* a firearm in your life. Apparently some states, like SC, refuse to reciprocate with states like GA who do not meet the same training requirements.

No... they reportedly were close to agreement with Florida a year ago. And, in fact, I was told they had an agreement already when the legislation was put forth to take it out of SLED's hands. And so SLED quit on it.

Good to see something done though. But this is very little compared to what was planned by the legislative effort. I don't think we South Carolinians are in any way satisfied with the results to now. We are glad to finally have a couple for sure. We wanted it all

Georgia is a pipe dream under the current wording. Ours requires "Similar requirements" and Georgia does not have formal training classes so that gives our SLED the out to not reach agreement. We have to change our law, or they have to change theirs. I want Georgia real bad too.

But... Welcome to SC Kentucky and Florida!!!! We love ya!!!!

Thanks Dave. I wondered why the reciprocity maps showed South Carolina and Georgia not recognizing one another's permits. Now I know.
