Thank you

Thanks for the ideas and for the encouragement.

The water gun sounds like the most fun! And if it doesn't work out, the kids'll like it.

Sorry to say I had to google the Wilson Pro Staff to figure out it was a golf club. The one time I was on a golf course it was to drive the cart around passing out beer. I suspect my follow-through would not be good form.

I'm afraid I'd get hungry and eat the bun with onions...five miles is a long jog some days.

Thanks also for the book recommendation, I will check the library this week. I am ashamed to say my mile time on the web, suffice it to say, there's room for improvement, LOTS of improvement.

Thanks again!

I have 2 dogs myself.

HOWEVER, I KEEP CONTROL OF THEM. They stay in MY yard, not in the road. All of the fault here is with the dog owner.

Any unfamiliar dog could be rabid. Any animal fanging me is going to be checked immediately for rabies. The check only requires the brain, not the whole animal.

As I walked away, I patted myself on the back...some dog-lover here on CC would be happy that I didn't just shoot the things
Don't get me wrong, I am just as much pro-gun guy as the next. I open carry a .45 everywhere and fully embrace RTKBA. However, seeing a person draw their SD weapon to shoot 2 dogs in what could hardly be considered an attack, let alone a fear for life (of you or a pet you may have been legally walking on a leash), would cause me not only to call the county sheriff, but to testify as a witness in your trial against you.

Thank you for your "restraint" as I am sure it probably saved you from losing your CCL and possibly going to jail should the owner of the dogs and/or bystanders choose to press charges for reckless discharge of a firearm.

To me, our RTKBA does not give us the right to shoot nuisances to us.

Don't mess with the wiener!!! I've had em all my life and lemme tell ya they can be vicious. Their teeth are huge relative to their body size and they have pretty strong necks and shoulders. They were bred to hunt and kill badgers and foxes for crying out loud.

One day many moons ago I got home and parked across the street from my house because the garage door repairman was parked in my driveway working on the garage door. As I opened the sliding door of the mini van, my little wiener went busting out like a danged cruise missile.

He bolted across the street and down the driveway, lept up and tore through layers of overalls and thermal underwear and put two big holes in the poor worker's knee. It looked like a vampire attacked him.

The poor fella hopped up into the bed of his truck to get away from the little tiger. The sheriff came by later and was not pleased. BEWARE OF WIENERS!

I think you would have a hard time shooting two Weiner dogs and explaining how they were anything more than a nuisance. I'd save the gun for much larger more deadly varieties of K-9 like the ferocious chocolate lab in my avatar.

I'm a big believer in that anyone that owns ANY pet should contain them in THEIR OWN YARD. The guy should have dropped what he was doing and immediatly come and stopped his dogs from harrassing you on public property. Some people think everyone should just put up with their dogs and cats... I think I'll get a horse and just let it rome.......
I've owned wiener dogs and they can get an attitude.....

Well said.

I'll say this. The owner should have gotten his dogs when they were bothering you, however, if I were to see someone throwing rocks at my two little harmless dogs I think that person and I would have some issues. Couldn't you have just walked a bit faster and moved on with your day. As far as shooting goes, how could tiny weeny dogs be a threat to you? I can't see a reason to shoot unless you were just looking for an excuse. If I were washing my truck in my yard and my dogs were harassing someone walking by I would definetly control them. If that person were to pull a gun out, the situation as you could imagine will only go downhill.

I'm gonna climb off my high horse. Keep walking, and keep it outside, you'll enjoy it a whole lot more. And maybe just ignore the tiny dogs that bother you.

I'm always amazed at dog owners that defend their dogs for violating a leash law. Don't let them out on public streets, period, and then there are never any issues to worry about. Loose dogs in this area have been known to get shot. And the county does like giving out hefty fines for loose dogs.
