I shouldn't even tell this, but it's been a long time and I think that the statute of limitations on stupidity has expired.

Back in the 70's I applied for and received a FFL. Lots of wholesalers would send ya stuff if you asked and included a copy of the FFL. I received a swatch (about 10" square) of nylon body armor. Supposed to be good for up to a .357(I hate this next part).....I taped it to my leg and shot myself with a .25 (Don't say it...I know, I KNOW! It did stop the bullet, but I limped for six months.
Let the harrassing begin.(Unless you are really a bunch of nice guys and will let this one pass.)

Hit, no.

Shot at, yes, twice. Once was in the woods in 1984 in West-central Indiana where I was born and raised. I was deer hunting on our property. No one else had permission to hunt there. I heard the bullet pass by me, strike a rock face in the cliff about 15 yards behind me and ricochet off somewhere just like in the old western movies. I hit the dirt and screamed that I was a human, not a deer. I was rewarded with the sound of someone running through the leaves and branches of the woods, away from me, and yelling a single "Sorry!" They did not come to see if they had hit me, nor even ask if I was OK. Nice.

The second was in the Northern Persian Gulf in 1991. I was standing watch on the starboard 25mm chain gun mount on the ship I was stationed, we took fire from some Iraqi soldiers on an oil platform (The Iraqis dropped off a lot of their guys on gas and oil platforms in the Northern end of the Gulf and told them to shoot at coalition ships. But, after the first night of the war, all 100 or so of their coastal patrol boats were on the bottom of the gulf). 30 cal machine gun or something similar. One round struck the ship less than 10 feet from where I was on the gun but I was shielding from any fragments by a stanchion. I returned fire for approx. 10 seconds, neutralizing the Iraqi machine gun and the operators of it. We got our Combat Action ribbon for that.

Hopefully I will never again have the experience of incoming fire. I've had enough.

Or BB guns. Though not quite as drastic as some of the stories above they do sting like hell.

Haven't been many times I've laughed that hard on DefensiveCarry.
