If it took them years to determine what states were "similiar" and they were only looking at the controlled substance issue, how will they get the complete and "comprehensive" (I hate that word) review done before the legislature reconviense?

I think that is precisely the point. They want a legislative fix.

They need to change it.

I was young and dumb at 18 and got caught with a joint, so I should lose my right before I even get to CCW and 32 years later?

There has to be reasonable restrictions.

If I get put in jail for drunk in public, should I lose my drivers license for life, even though I wasn't driving. Makes about as much sense.

I can understand a time period, but for life?

I expect they won't change the misdemeanor-drug aspect, but rather the "similar" aspect. Of course, there seems to be a sea change towards legalization of some of those drugs. Similar to guns, I'll side with the science and the facts on that one and say, "legalize it!"

The libertarian movement is gaining popularity at a rapid pace, mostly because of the massive failure of both major parties. Combine this with the financial crisis and the thought of legalizing and more importantly the taxing of currently illegal drugs is now being considered out of fiscal necessity.

Legalize It - starts a whole nother debate here, but on that side note, it's funny that the nation stands on moral grounds when continuing a policy that says substances are illegal but when we need tax revenue because states are going bankrupt, we consider legalizing those same substances.

Goes back to the saying, "one can only be as moral as his wallet will allow"

Don't get me started on how I feel about legislating morality.
