Reading this just reminds me of how happy I am not to live in MD anymore.

Well, there is a worse place to live with regard to gun laws. Have you ever seen the gun laws from the District of Columbia? That's one location I would NOT want to pulled over with a gun OR ammunition in my vehicle!

Anyone who has ever lived in MD is very familiar with DC gun laws. Just like how we were familiar with VA, PA, DE and WV gun laws and how us and DC were surrounded by shall-issue states.

Being from PA I got the opposite problem...NJ, MD, DE, and NY

...its improving a little though, OH use to be no-issue a couple years back.

Me too. But then, that is just one reason.

Stupid as it is. That's what you have to do. I lived in good 'ol MD all my life...except for the past 5 years. My family still lives there and everytime I visit, that's what I have to do. Of course I live on the ES and we all know that the ES is a . Sry, couldn't resist.
Take care,
Pam

Remember the Republican Governor who promised to re-vamp the state's ludicrous gun laws and then spent 4 years trying to get slot machines legalized?

There's reason #2 - Even when MD has a Republican in office they still don't do anything constructive.

Living in Northern Virginia, I know how restrictive the gun laws are in MD and DC. The best strategy is to not stay in either too long. If you visit the museums in DC, you can't even bring a pocket knife, much less a folding knife. Maybe I need to bone up on my unarmed defensive skills...

BTW if you were to travel through MD to a valid place and were protected by federal law, what happens if you actually do need to use your weapon? I would imagine you'd be in a world of hurt, legally.

No dice Me. My inlaws live in PA. We stop at the last exit before crossing the bridge, unload, then get thru Maryland. First exit in PA, stop and re-arm. MD is a state to avoid/spend as little time in as possible.

You might want to carefully read through the thread again. There are very few places you can legally stop with your weapon, most of those being shooting ranges, gun shops and gunsmiths.

So, if you are attacked at a McDonald's, and you manage to unlock your weapon AND recover the ammo, AND load the weapon...... Yup, you're in a world of hurt.

I'd go so far as to say, if you are going through Maryland with a weapon, I'd check my gas gage prior to entering the State, to keep from having to make ANY stop!
