Got mine today.

Applied for my Minnesota Carry Permit on May 22, it was issued on June 22, 2009. This was in Hennepin County, Minnesota. I had an interesting conversation with the deputy in charge of permit applications. I was told that the county would take the full 30 days, 'because they can.' He was not rude, but simply stated the Sheriff does not want citizens to carry weapons, and he would take the full amount of time.

The deputy also hinted that the background checks took nowhere near the full 30 days to complete, but he didn't specify how little time they took.

It was issued the 22nd of June, exactly 30 days after the application. Got it today.

Congradulations! I wished mine in Texas had only taken 30 days! Mine took a full 5 months to get last year with the mass back log down here!

Background Checks

Depending on how many fingers the Deputy uses to type, 1-2 minutes. Period. I watched them do mine. Once he got the name spelled right, it took

That long. Over and done. Obviously, they are jerking people around, because they can.

It's pretty crappy that they take the full time just because they can. A letter to the Editor of your local paper can't hurt. Make sure this clown does not get elected again.

If some places can issue a permit in one day then they ALL can. That so many do not is BS in my opinion.
