Thanks, Joker. I agree ... a safer trip. I'll be out in Denver for a full week, and it will be impossible to avoid some rough parts of town all of the time.

Just noticed you hail from southwest Kansas. I currently live in Manhattan, but grew up about 50 mi south of Dodge City.

Congrats, and welcome to the ranks! I'm in Hutchinson, so I'm lucky to belong to the Central Kansas Gun Club, where we have plenty of room to shoot. Out west, there just isn't much availability unless you make friends with a farmer or some such arrangement.

"Out west" everyone knows everyone, and everyone is a friend. I never had any trouble going out to a rancher's pasture, find a dry creek bottom somewhere, and shooting into the creek bank at beer cans --- or whatever else happened to be laying around in the back of the truck. Never gave it a second thought.

Right. Plenty of places to shoot "Out West". Also, when I get the urge, I can always do the 5 hour drive to Altus, OK, spend a few days, and see one of my daughters. Her husband and father-in-law run the Indoor range, there (Yellow Rose). Very good range. Look them up if any of you are ever in Altus.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of the range there --- I get down there a couple times a year to do some rock climbing in the Wichita Mtns.
