Me, I'm just worried about keeping a roof overhead and feeding my family.

Well you could always start your own company or become a consultant then you can choose not to work with the anti-gun companies.

Much easier said than done. Especially when one is making a decent 6 figure salary. Trying to convince the family that they we're going to "gamble it all" on a business startup that has a better chance of going bankrupt by the 5th year than turning a profit .... all so I can carry a gun to work .... probably not going to work out so well.

Explaining to my kids that they're college fund is gone because daddy didn't want to comply with company policy .... probably not going to fly.

Can I ask how old you are? You hold a rather idealistic, and frankly amateurish view of things. I don't mean that as an insult - I'm truly surprised by your answers. I could see answers like that coming out of my mouth when I was 19, but at 32 with a wife, two kids, and a mortgage .... my view is a bit different.

I wouldn't bother asking. I would read the handbook to see what it said about firearms and weapons in general on company property and go from there. As I don't see many jobs that would allow employees to have any type of weapon on there person.

So if the job does not allow you to conceal carry and it says it is against policy in the handbook, will you carry anyway? I mean you are risking your job and future employment if you are caught.

You can explain to your family that you don't want to risk going to work unarmed. What happens if you are killed on the way to work because you were forced to leave your pistol at home? Or a crazed terrorist gunman comes in and you cannot defend yourself from them because you followed a stupid company policy? Better to be unemployed and alive rather than employed and dead...

I am looking for a job. I don't plan on asking that question in an interview. I will read the employee handbook and then make a decision. I never know how someone will react to such a question.

I can see this being valid if the likelihood of him being attacked
is high.

Which it probably isn't.

The logical thing to do is to weigh the likelihood of being attacked against the likelihood of being caught and the severity of the likely consequences.

If you drive taxis in Los Angeles, Miami, or New York, sure, I'd probably carry a gun, regardless of local law and company policy. Because the odds of being detected are fairly low, and the likelihood of being attacked is pretty high.

If you work in a secured office building in a relatively low-crime area and are not the target of a specific threat, I probably wouldn't, since the apparent likelihood of being caught and fired, thus depriving my family and me of our livelihood, is higher than a secured office building being attacked by terrorists.
