Which it probably isn't.

The logical thing to do is to weigh the likelihood of being attacked against the likelihood of being caught and the severity of the likely consequences.

If you drive taxis in Los Angeles, Miami, or New York, sure, I'd probably carry a gun, regardless of local law and company policy. Because the odds of being detected are fairly low, and the likelihood of being attacked is pretty high.

If you work in a secured office building in a relatively low-crime area and are not the target of a specific threat, I probably wouldn't, since the apparent likelihood of being caught and fired, thus depriving my family and me of our livelihood, is higher than a secured office building being attacked by terrorists.
I am sure the people at Columbine, Virginia Tech, and the Utah mall all thought the same thing as a gunman decided to murder them. Why risk it? I mean leaving your gun at home could get you killed. Actually it will get you killed.

What if the handbook says no concealed carry? Then the decision is made for you, isn't it?

Talk to John McLain before you rush to judgement like that.

I wouldn't take a job unless I could carry. I quit a job once when they issued a policy against it, and left the same day. I'm not willing to give up any civil right for a job.

In fact, concealed carry is encouraged in my office now. I train everyone personally.

That's utterly irrational. By that logic everyone who doesn't have a gun on them at work is destined to be murdered.

The reason people would "risk it" is that the odds against being involved in an active shooter massacre like that are slim to none, whereas the odds of being caught and losing your job or being expelled are a bit higher.

It will get you killed when a crazy gunman or terrorist decides to come into your place of business.

The odds are you will never need a gun, so why go through the trouble of carrying one?

CCW never was an issue at any of my jobs, however I now work as a civilian for State law enforcement, and even if we have a CCW we are not allowed to carry on premises.

Post ...

I always carry unless it is illegal for me to. Boss wont know unless I have to pull it out and fire, and If i get fired because I had to shoot some nutcase that came to my work place with a 12 ga or AK than so be it. That is if I didn't already duck out the fire exit when i first heard gunshots...
