Traveling to St. Louis, need suggestions
I am going to be traveling from OK to St. Louis for a couple Cardinals games and I would like some input on any weird laws that MO might have. Also I would like to know parts of St. Louis to avoid as I have seen it recently became murder capital of the US. It looks like the stadium is a stones throw from the peoples republic of illinois. Surely there is not many hotels, restaurants, etc. that I may accidentally end up in illinois. I used to have the travelers guide to gun laws but it is MIA at the moment.
The main questions I have are can I carry into an eating establishment that serves alcohol, and if I can legally keep my gun in the truck at the baseball game. Any other input is appreciated.

Best advice for traveling to "THE LOO" (the hip call it The Lou, but the English term is more appropriate, meaning toilet) is DON'T. But given you have already made that decision……
North side is the worst, but that is where they located the Cabella's. Central around Forest Park ain’t great but that is where the zoo is. Guns in the stadium parking lot are OK Guns carried in restaurants serving alcohol are OK (>51% of revenue from food so major restaurants are OK) jst stay out of the "bar" area; bars serving food (>51% from booze) are not. Even then violation is not a criminal offense. Even if posted it is not a criminal violation to enter, if discovered all that supposed to happen is denial of service (asked to leave) if you refuse to leave and cops are call you get a trespass ticket. Although in “THE LOO” you can probably expect the cops to be called right away. The police department is currently in trouble for excesses in parking fines/towing irregularities but I do not know if that has caused any relaxing of enforcement. Open carry is legal but local governments can ban it and THE LOO is a hog-pog of small municipalities due to some historical restrictions on THE LOO expanding, so everything outside the core is a combination of small towns. As THE LOO is right on the Mississippi River you cannot wind up in PDRIL without crossing a bridge, but it is possible to get caught past the last exit and have to cross, just hit the first exit and come back. Across the river is East St. Louis: one place a decent citizen does not want to be (unless traveling sans females, then PM me and I will tell you of a couple places that could be of interest to a man traveling alone) so there are no good motels/hotels there. Handguns in cars without a permit are legal if over 21 Missouri does not require LEO notification |

There are cops and downtown guides in yellow shirts to assist you. They are usually on almost every downtown block. The new Busch Stadium is something I can be proud to say I had a part in designing. My company did most of the interior spaces while HOK Sport, KC did the original shell design. I think you will like the sight lines. There is really no bad seat in the ball park. There is a new sculpture park that you may like to visit. It starts at 8th street and Market. There are several new down town hotels. mostly along Washington Ave. But others a few blocks away, all near the stadium. Washington Ave., once a rundown garment district has been re-made into a loft district. There are now many new restaurants and even a high tech bowling alley/bar. The City Museum is great for kids and adults like it too. It is also downtown just off Washington ave. A tourist trap IMO is Laclede Landing a downtown district along the river front that I don't go to anymore. there are several restaurants and clubs. This is where You could get Mugged. late at night, if anywhere. On the edge of Laclede landing district is Lumière Place It is a 5 star hotel and casino. Even If you don't gamble this is worth visiting. The Soulard District is a historic residential and bar district about a mile and a half from the ball park. There are 30-40 bars and restaurants. Lafayette Square on Park ave. also only a mile from the ball park has some great restaurants and bars. We have one of the greatest Zoo's in the country located in Forest park and it is free. Forest Park is huge, much larger than Central Park in NY. There are many more places to visit. Like any urban environment, you need to be aware of your surroundings. I would generally say don't walk north of Washington Ave. downtown at night. Missouri is an open carry state. You can carry openly in your car. If OK has reciprocity with MO you can carry concealed. Okay, here is the law. You can not carry concealed in any restaurant or bar that serves less than 51% or more food unless you have prior approval of the manager If posted with 10" x 14" sign at the entrance that says "No Firearms allowed" you can not carry concealed into any establishment including restaurants, Taverns, or retail stores. You can not carry at the ball park. Missouri law prohibits carry of concealed weapons at any stadium that seats 5,000 people or more. Hope this is of some help to you. Enjoy your visit. St. Louis is a nice place to live and work. ![]() SIG

I will be traveling thru "some part" of St Louis in August. I haven't decided if I will go right into IL or take the route down the west side of the Mississippi yet. ...... I understand Interstate 64 has been or is under construction.... Is this true?... Thanks.

I am a decent citizen that lives in St.Louis but works East Side. Have for many many years. The industries that F350 refers to are gentlemens clubs and are the after hours hotspots when all the clubs downtown shut down .The area is heavily patroled by the local police and all the clubs have security in place outside and inside. The area has a 24 hour saloon , a very large tecno ,house music club, and two "gentlemens "clubs in less then a 2 mile radius. It turns into a small city after 2:30 am on a Saturday evening. The patronage spans every race, creed ,gender and moral proclivety. If you are not looking for trouble you will be fine. Leave the egos at home and have a good time if that is your twist.Like anywhere else . A word of caution, the staff of these clubs DO NOT suffer true idiocy for very long and situations are delt with swiftly. The local jail cells are small and without air conditioning. If you werent so bad they will bring you a nice lunch...bad? You get the pemento sandwich.

FastDraw I64 is under construction. There is a part just east of Wentzville for about 2 miles, you can get through this, I170, it is closed from there to Kingshighway in both directions.

The area around Cabelas is fine. Even a nice trap and skeet range immediately to the west of it.....

about a 5 mile stretch. 64 will be closed for another 6 months. Most are using I -70, Forest Park Parkway, or Clayton Road as alternate routes.

Does the I-64 closure affect travel from I-70 in Illinois to I-44 in Missouri? I will be heading into southern Missouri in a couple of weeks, and usually take I-70 across the bridge and connect with I-44.
