Non-Resident wait for Utah Permit??

So I am taking my Utah ccw class in like 3 weeks.. After that I will have all of my info ready to be sent over there to apply for the permit..

What are some of the waiting times you all have had for Utah non-resident permits? I've read about an average of 45-60 days. Is this accurate or is it much longer?

Thanks,

Brian

This should give you an idea on the latest wait time...

Paperwork mailed about May 20, Permit received August 19th, but things are supposed to be improving. And those dates are for 3 of us give or take a day, we work at the same place and took the same class.

Depending on how busy BCI is, it could take 60+ days.

53-5-704. Division duties -- Permit to carry concealed firearm -- Certification for concealed firearms instructor -- Requirements for issuance -- Violation -- Denial, suspension, or revocation -- Appeal procedure.
(1) (a) The division or its designated agent shall issue a permit to carry a concealed firearm for lawful self defense to an applicant who is 21 years of age or older within 60 days after receiving an application, unless during the 60-day period the division finds proof that the applicant is not of good character.

109 days from the date I mailed the check, 79 days from the date they processed the check. Received mine on May 22, 2009.

That is what the law says, but unfortunately since the election it appears thanks to the unexpected high number of requests the states with the most popular non-resident permits (Utah & Florida) haven't been able to keep up. So sadly folks can quote the law all they want, and it's just not going to happen, even after adding more workers.

Take a look at the Utah BCI site, and the statistics for CC Permits issued, I think they may have issued more in the first quater of this year than during ALL of last year.

I've seen "horror stories" out of Florida of people waiting 150 days +

When I got mine 2 years ago, I waited almost exactly 60 days. I would hope for that and anything less will just be a pleasant surpirse.

In the mean time, carry your complete carry rig around the house and get good and comfortable with sitting, standing, bending over to pick things up, etc.

I just received mine last week. It was mailed in the 2nd week of April and they cashed my check the end of May. Total time was right at about 120 days.

I took the class in Orem on May 16. Hand-carried the paperwork to BCI on May 18. $125.00 and 93 days - no permit.

Applied for Penn CCP. $26.00 and 3 weeks I have a permit. Penn and Utah cover the same states I travel in.
