My pastor is a former police office and very pro-gun. He knows that I have my concerns about safety in church, we had a brief discussion about it. I'm certain he wouldn't have a problem with my carrying in church if I were to ask him but I just don't think I want to live anyplace where I feel the need to carry in church and fortunately I don't feel that I'm in danger at my church.

I feel safer at the House of Pancakes!

I think there's a higher chance of our church being the place of an attack.

Do I feel safe in my house of worship? Yup. Do I carry there? Almost always. Do I feel safe there when I don't carry? Yup.

So far as I know, no one has done anything during Mass at any parish in our diocese. There was an armed robbery of a rosary group meeting on a weeknight. Two robbers were later arrested (good police work!)

The defense dynamic would change in such a situation, but that should probably be another thread.

being a small congregation I feel safe enough but I know that almost no one Carries to services.

After all thats happened it does make you wonder, as we are a growing church, what COULD happen in the future.

I feel safe, but I respect the knowledge that anytime someone speaks out against sin there is an increase in the possibility of retaliation by those who are accused of committing the sin being preached on.

My Pastor doesn't mince words, he calls sin by what it is and I know that offends people. The truth hurts.

I also know I am protected and I know most of the Pastoral security detail, and many of them know me (at least by sight).

You should come visit us, we've rarely been accused of being ORGANIZED.
