Flashing, Brandishing, Intimidating
or something else entirely, there is no evidence that this person was in imminent danger of death or grievous bodily harm:
1010WINS.com* - Cop Suspended for Flashing Gun at Unruly LIRR Riders As a police officer, he should have known better but this should be a reminder to all that concealed is concealed! Posted: Tuesday, 13 October 2009 8:59AM Cop Suspended for Flashing Gun at Unruly LIRR Riders NEW YORK (AP/1010 WINS) -- Authorities say a New York City police officer has been suspended without pay following his off-duty arrest on charges that he displayed a handgun while trying to quiet unruly train passengers. More Long Island News Officer David Hendrick pleaded not guilty Monday in Hempstead to a felony charge of criminal possession of a weapon and a lesser charge of menacing. He was held on $2,500 bond or $1,000 cash. Defense attorney Steve Worth refused comment. Metropolitan Transportation Authority police say Hendrick was riding a Long Island Rail Road train to Ronkonkoma Sunday night when he showed his a gun to quiet down four passengers who had attended a New York Rangers game. The 38-year-old Brentwood resident joined the NYPD 16 years ago and was assigned to the Manhattan Traffic Task Force. |

What a disgrace. But typical of gun-hater Bloomberg's New York. I just wonder if the 4 did indeed "quiet down."

He should have "flashed" his police ID first. Not good for a cop to do this, especially in a very anti-gun town.

Agreed, he should have indentified himself as a LEO and then proceeded based on response. Doesnt sound like a veteran move to me.

There's got to be more to this story than that.
How does an off-duty LEO get charged with illegal possession of a firearm? Interesting... |

if he is found guilty of this felony charge, is he done being a cop? can you be a LEO if you have a felony conviction anywhere in the country.

Flashing, brandishing and intimidating is a stupid thing to do no matter who you are in my book!

Strange move for sure. May have been having a very bad day, fueling his bad judgment.

In MN statutes:
Whoever does any of the following commits an assault... commits an act with intent to cause fear in another of immediate bodily harm or death... That could include the mere exposure of a concealed weapon by uncovering. And I thought flashing meant something else.
