Everyone loves the Crossbreed Supertuck, it seems. I have yet to see one in person, but holy cats, the holster looks like it's the size of a chastity belt. Based on looks alone it looks anything but quick to put on, and I just can't imagine covering that much of my body's real estate with leather. Just my impressions based on the information I've seen on the web sites and pics. I have yet to see one in a store or at a gun show to handle and to try on.
I use an IWB maybe a third of the time and typically just when I'm carrying a 1911. My choice over a dozen years ago was a Milt Sparks Summer Special, which is compact, durable and comfortable, and it "installs" in about 8 seconds. I also believe it to be substantially more expensive than a Supertuck, and of course it's not a "tuckable" design. That point is moot for my mode of dress. I'm interested in seeing a comparison of a Summer Special (doesn't necessarily have to be a Sparks, but should be that Bruce Nelson desing and of comparable quality) with a Supertuck from someone who actually has used both. No "I think..." or "it looks like...", I'm just interested in a real-world user's opinion based on time spent with both holsters. Any takers?

As far as easy/fast to put on...As fast or faster than any of my other holsters. Takes a couple seconds. I have tried both holsters you mention and I prefer the CrossBreed with my larger guns. I only carry my FS1911 in my SuperTuck as it protects my skin against the large and heavy gun (which has ambi safety and that digs in my side the worst). For full size weapons, the CrossBreed SuperTuck has been the hands down winner for me time and again! When I carry my Kahr P45...It is smooth, small and light. Any holster is comfy for me with that category weapon. I would be remiss to not mention that I too have greatly appreciated CrossBreeds phenominal customer service before, during and AFTER the sale! I have had a few of the old plastic clips break (not they are steel), they were replaced by the next day! I had one metal clip bend when I snagged it and they replaced it free of charge as well. High quality throughout and a wonderfull witness! To each their own...

Hello. I'm diverdown247 and I'm a Crossbreed holster addict.
I've had Crossbreeds for nearly every pistol I've owned over the past couple of years. Recently consolidated to 9mm and .380 so I only have them for XD, Baby Eagle/CZ P-01, and Ruger LCP. These aren't for everyone as some just don't trust this type of holster. Worn properly, the holster should retain the firearm even in a fall or roll. I've rolled in my Supertuck with a CZ P-07 in it and not had a problem, but that's because I wear it properly and have a slight forward cant so my belt pulls on the firearm as well as the holster....the belt is key. My wife and I love these and they're worth every penny I've spent. Sure, I could have saved a few bucks and went with the knock-off, but I spent the good $ and got the superior product. Ordered the Mini-tucks for our LCP's late last Thursday and they were hand-delivered (because we're so close to the manufacturer) to my local shop by Tuesday morning. Comfort is always an issue when carrying. If it's not comfy, you won't carry it as often, if at all. And since nobody else plugged it, I'll do so with the hopes that the Mods don't tag me for it. www.crossbreedholsters.com |

I've had my Supertuck for several weeks. It is quite comfortable. I am still in the process of making adjustments to overcome issues I have with it. I prefer placing it in a 7:30-8 position (left handed carry) since it clings closer to my mid-back at that point. The grip of my compact 1911 still stands out in my opinion and I must experiment on positioning the holster clips to reduce that. It is also possible that I might slip it more toward the 6-7 position. This brings me to my biggest issue. Tucking in a shirt using this holster location is difficult. Cold weather shirts are hardest to deal with due to heavier material. I have yet to learn how to quickly insert and remove the holster but at least that can be done in private. The shirt tuck is a bother because the handgun must be removed at times before entering a posted location. Maybe I'm a difficult case due to my age, 68, and level of impatience that results from that.

I like Crossbreed holsters but not the super tuck.
Because of shoulder problems I can't get the gun out of it. I have a couple of QwikClips so I can carry cross draw. With the QwikClips neither my KT P11 or SA XD40 show under a Polo shirt. They're so comfortable I forget they are there. I also have a gun belt from Crossbreed. |

Adapt and overcome! For those who think there's excess material, it's there for good reason...if it fits one length of a particular model, it fits them all in that model. Example: All XD's will (perhaps not the M) fit in the XD holster, all Glocks will fit in the Glock holster. The user can trim them to fit the particular length and need for carry...I trimmed the bottom of my XD holster to accomodate my XD9SC. And once you've pinched your side between another holster and the firearm fram, you'll be glad that extra material is there. Trust me, it's not comfortable when that happens. |

The crossbreed is the only holster I wear for all my guns. Well except for the GP100. They wont make one for it.
