"You know, I think you're a little paranoid. You think you're going to be attacked all the time!"

Well, I was going to chime in with the 'You're paranoid putting on your seatbelt every time you get in the car. You think you're going to be in an accident all the time' and 'You're paranoid having a fire extinguisher in your kitchen. You think you're going to have a fire all the time'...

But torgo1968 essentially beat me to it!

I told my wife "you know, I wish I didn't have to carry. It's a pain in the butt. But I couldn't live with myself if someone were ever to try and hurt you and I could have done something to save you, but was too lazy to carry that day."

Kinda put an end to her comments!

Over 20 years ago, I told my girlfriend now my wife this.

Why do you wear a seatbelt?

She’s very intelligent and within a minute or two she responded “I got it”, and added she had never thought about it that way; But that I was right.

Today she is paranoid for us to leave the house and I not be armed. Sometimes, she will look me over and ask which pistol are you carrying? Because she could not tell, and wanted to make sure I was.

The problem with areas that are "very safe" is that their locations vary on a regular basis.

Something I read on a motorcycle forum.

A guy gearing up at work -- pants, jacket, boots, gloves, helmet. A coworker loudly asked if he planned to get in a wreck. The guy responded "No, I don't plan. But if I do wreck, I plan to get up."

Same thing. I don't plan to be attacked. But if I am attacked, I plan to survive, and to ensure my loved ones survive. Who knows? Maybe I'll end up saving people I don't even know.

But I ain't planning on it. I'm just trying to stay safe in this increasingly nutty world.

When I was in college (Criminal Justice mind you) back in the late 80's we had a very liberal professor...actually he was the dean at one point, and he was a long beard wearing, tire-sole sandle wearing, hammer and sickle flag flying dyed in the wool lib. We confronted him one time with the "3 am, BG has your family in danger, knife hits the floor, what do you do" question. His response, pathetic as it was, is what most of these liberal pansies would say. "I would not grab the knife".

I just dont get it. Some people just want to be I suppose.

(disclamer - if you are a liberal and would grab the knife, please disregard the pansie remark )

Not really, not all the time, just at anytime, anywhere.
