Hate to say it but I have to agree with the last poster. Before it gets so bad that I have to worry about the shower, I'm moving! I do think we can get carried away about the whole carry thing; "gasp" I said that?

Seriously, if I had to travel and was in a hotel I'd take my gun in and set it on the counter and lock the door. That's two locked doors between me and any bad guy and we're talking less than a million to one chance of something happening!

I think having a good flashlight, clothes and shoes by the bedside is way more important than any of this.

Sometimes I think we need to get real about all of this and keep it all in perspective. Truth be told, I think some of us just like guns and carrying so much that we let it become a bigger deal than it needs to be because we like it, not becasue of any real threat.

Don't get me wrong, I carry just about everywhere/time it's legal but I had to "real" myself in a little. If we're not careful we'll miss what life is all about and it's about a lot more than concealed carry.

Point in case, when was the last time you checked the air in your spare, the battery in your smoke detectors, the charge in your fire extingisher? Some guys will carry 24/7 and while they're sleeping but don't have a smoke alarm or a fire extinguisher near the stove

You could also duck tape a cold steel plastic fixed blade knife to your thigh...

Sorry, don't mean to offend anyone, Lord knows I go off the deap end myself more than once in a while!

!
I think this is true of many who are new to carrying. This usually wears off with years of packing guns. Trust me.

If I had to worry about taking a shower and having to have a gun at the most convenient place possible, I'd have to move. Being in the shower makes it difficult to hear whats going on, but then so does playing musical instruments, watching tv, listening to the stereo, taking a jacuzzi..
I do keep a gun on me most of the time while at home. But I'm not going to take a short shower because I'm without my gun for a few minutes.

Of course, this problem can be it's own solution - if one avoids bathing for a sufficient period of time out of fear of being momentarily unarmed, the resultant biochemical deterrent should eventually become strong enough to prevent an attack all by itself.

I make sure that there are no bad guys around, then set my home alarm to sound off if someone gets within 100 feet of the property line. I make sure that the seismic sensors are set to maximum sensitivity and that the roof electrification system is properly energized.

I prefer propping the HD shotgun right next to the shower and slinging the EBR over my back. I slide it around to the front while soaping my back up though. Then I rinse it down after I am done and oil it lightly.

The hardest thing is washing my hair without removing my tinfoil hat.

No, I just take a shower. The gun stays in the safe on the closet shelf just like it was during the night before. The worst thing I have to worry about in the shower is the 6 yr old coming in and flushing the toilet while I am in there.

Oh, and Thumper, what sharp object do you use to cut the food saver bag while your in the shower?

Now we all know that can't be real ... you would never use ball ammo in your SD gun.

It's to make sure the JHPs don't get clogged by the shower curtain.

I have found that by using baby wipes I don't have to disarm or take a shower!
