Ok....let me post this again...

Those guns I would have no issue leaving in the holster on my belt on my folded up jeans sitting on the can that means toilet if that were my choice. If your gun is prone to rusting and it worries you, don't take it in the bathroom, secure it wherever. If you feel that YOU MUST have a gun withing arms reach at all times, even while covered in soap and lather....well, I'm sure you can think of a way to keep a gun handy. If I ever feel that I must have a gun while in the shower, I'll buy a "Marine" shotgun and mount to the wall over the towel bar...
I will attempt to clarify.

1: I have no problem leaving my gun in my holster, on my jeans, folded up on the toilet if I choose to while taking a shower, most of my guns that I carry don't rust that easy.

2:I am not the only person in my home, and they're going to have to get past the wife with either a .357 or an AR before they get to me in the bathroom.

3: If I need a gun IN THE SHOWER, not just "in the room" I've got issues.

Ok, to the OP...

I have dogs so I have an early warning system. That said, I close and lock the door, I carry my weapon with me and I leave it on the bathroom counter.

At home I don’t worry about it.

But when I travel and staying in hotels, I always put the chain across the hotel door, and if I’m by myself, I lock the bathroom door. My Glock is still in its holster on my pants on the floor in the bathroom.

But seriously, when traveling, I always try not to stay in bad neighborhoods. And if I lived in one I’d move.

You can't choose when your going to need your firearm. You could be doing anything. If your going to be armed, you mid as well be armed 100% of the time. Not 80, not 90. Your better off not being armed at all, because lightning strikes even when the sky is blue. I almost felt like a sheepdog being ridiculed by some sheep for CWC.
Unless you don't sleep, you can't be on high alert all the time. I don't read any posts that ridiculed anyone.

Yes showers can be noisy, and if you live in an apartment or don't have a dog, or can't have a security system or any of the 100 other reasons one can think of, there are always methods to keep one's home somewhat secure. There are bars that require no modifications to doors that fit under the handle that make it almost impossible to kick in a door, certainly not without the occupant being aware of trouble, even in the shower. You can put the crappy little alert systems that sell on tv that give off a very annoying loud sound when the door or window is opened. You can use dowel rods to keep windows from being opened. Heck you can even use baby wipes to wash with so you don't have to take a shower. I have done that in the past when showers weren't possible, but not for these reasons.

In reality a very small percentage of us will ever be in a situation where we need to use deadly force. That percentage gets smaller when we are not out in public but at our homes. Is it possible, yes it is, but like I said previously, unless you turn into a sleepless zombie and in condition red 100% of the time your never going to be immune from the possibility of attack. If you take steps to ensure that anyone entering you home has to make enough noise even when your in the shower, having a gun in close proximity to you is probably going to be good enough.

1. I do the same thing as you stated. I take my shirt I was wearing and wrap it around the gun and put it on the toilet seat, or sometimes I'll put it on the sink.

2. I live alone, no dog, no wife, no .357

3. I never wanted to take the gun with me in the shower. But I was curious to ask I'm relatively newer to this forum, and wanted to know what type of responses would be.

All humor aside, I keep my G30 in a Fobus paddle holster, set it up against the edge of the tub at the end with outside shower curtain covering it, my shower is in a separate area from sink/cabinets/toilet
if i need to i can grab it in a flash, no leather to worry about getting wet...and its a Glock

If loose gun laws are good for criminals, why do criminals support gun control?

I sleep, but I still have a gun near my bedside. That wouldn't be an issue for me as I lock my bedroom door though I am a heavy sleeper. For me I feel most vulnerable in the shower. Reasons why? If I haven't said it before.
a. I'm wet
b. I'm not clothed
c. my advantage to hear my assailant is almost gone
d. I close my eyes quite a lot (not able to see)
e. shower curtain if not blocks your view it could be capable of stopping you from easy access to a firearm
f. I know I said this one. I live alone, no wifey standing watch with a 4 year old with a night stick
I don't want to drag it out too much, but you get my point.

The odds are small, but odds don't mean anything. All it takes is the right person to break in. I'm just reassured knowing that if I see someone lurking around in my room. I'm going to be the guy with the gun, and if you put yours in your safe... your not really.. "safe" now are you

very true, and good points

I've also thought to use the scrub brush or wife's razor to ram through someone's eye/throat/whatever if need be, turn whatever you get into a weapon, put the shower curtain in their face (mine is on a rod that is held in place with spring tension and can be knocked off pretty easy)
even if it give you a second or two extra to get something else to impale them with then allow you to get to firearm if need be

Rogerthat,

Have you taken any of the precautions I listed earlier in your home or apartment to give you some additional warning of entry into your home? If not I suggest you do so. Unless you have a keyed lock on your bathroom door or a dead bolt most home locks can be overcome with a simple little straight or key tool that comes with any ordinary lockset, or things laying around your home. You would probably not hear them come through even the bathroom door if you haven't heard them gain entry into your home. What stops the intruder from entering your bathroom even with the door locked and just shooting or stabbing you through the curtain undetected. Once they are in your home without your knowing it your at a severe disadvantage in my view.

As far as being wet, naked or whatever, having your eyes closed if my life depends on it that won't matter one bit when it comes to fighting. If the bad guy doesn't want to fight a wet or naked man they shouldn't be in my house and they can run away.

I feel more safe in my home, even with my gun in the open safe than I feel most any other place in my community. If you attempt to gain entry into my home I am certain I will hear you and be able to respond before you gain entry.

With a couple of these wired to the bathroom door, I don't have to worry anymore. Although, as I type this, I think I see a flaw in my plan - what about an air mobile assault? If they breach the ceiling, they could get around my defenses....
