Sounds like you need to move...I know I would be thinking of it.

My renter's policy has a $500 deductible but if I had a firearms rider prior to the theft I wouldn't have had a deductible nor a rise in premium afterward. Their riders cost $2 annually per $100 insured, so basically $20 per $1000 insured with no deductible or increase in premium if a claim is filed. Not too bad, I don't know what ArmsCare Plus runs but I'll definitely be looking into it after all of this.

I'm going to wait to file with the NRA until I hear from the gym since they want to check on their insurance. It is likely I won't get jack from them but "no guns allowed" signs on their door.

Finally some good news!
Just curious, is it considered insurance fraud to make the claim to both entities?

I love Tucson. And, all of those thefts could be blamed on stupidity. Even the stolen car was left out of the garage. We live in a pretty good neighborhood, seriously. Meth heads found it. You just have to belly up to better security and situational awareness. I'm learning... slowly.

That's what I was wondering, I'd imagine so but who knows. I were to go through the NRA, and the gym owner of her own volition went to her insurance company?! No idea.

I dont see how you could even expect anyone to give you a tongue lashing.

You did nothing wrong or irresponsible.

Most of us try to carry any time we are in public, and things can happen to the gym, from the gym or AT the gym.

You locked your carry weapon away and some idiot forcefully gained access.

Hope you get your gun back, and i hope they catch the low life.

Update:
Well I found out that NRA ArmsCare is 'supplemental' insurance to any existing policies that might cover me. Since I have State Farm with a $500 deductible and a hike in my premium as a result of a claim, I must pursue that avenue first. So I opened a claim with State Farm to get that ball rolling. After that I am able to go to the NRA for the remainder.

I spoke with the gym after receiving my police report and, funny, it seems as though they're already back-peddling. Whoooooo would'a guessed?! LOL! They are now saying that they are not responsible for lost or stolen items on their property, but they'd still submit it to the insurance company just in case. They probably wont, they're just saying that to appease me. I saw this coming but I guess I was a little hopeful.

I guess the part that makes me mad is they have NO security cameras, people can obviously walk in and around without being stopped or having to check/sign in as a visitor, etc. On top of all that they hand out locks that can be picked within seconds as we've seen on the YouTube videos. To top all of it off, the LEO said they have hundreds of car break-ins annually. I'm finally getting a little more angry at my gym. I have since requested a refund of my annual locker fee, to which they applied to future month's membership fees. I was fine with that.

I wasn't going to name names but at this juncture I'm a little irritated at their lack of compassion towards me and initiative to make our environment safer. Please, if you ever visit Genesee Valley Court and Fitness, in Flint, Michigan off of US-23 and Hill Road, DO NOT USE THEIR LOCKERS! I'm not saying its a bad place to work out or play tennis and basketball, I'm just saying watch yourself.

There, I feel better.

first of all its too bad this happened at all but its bound to happen somewhere sometime...
but after your last post this is where you deserve to be told you are out of line...the gym has no obligation to protect your belongings or carry insurance to pay for their loss...the fact that they offer lockers is a courtesy and i would guess at one time or another you signed an agreement regarding this...you really should not be mad at them. the fact that they even submitted to their insurance company is a show of compassion. respect that.
the simple fact is you took a risk and sustained a loss. nobody is responsible and you need to suck it up. stop looking for compassion and compensation...its not going to happen.
and yes...filing an insurance claim with 2 seperate organizations is fraud. if you can file with one and look to the other to cover your deductible that isnt a problem...but seeking full compensation from both is fraud...and you chose your deductible. keep that in mind.
