I used heavy mending thread, and used it to make a cheap shoulder holster hold my gun much tighter. The gun doesn't move around in the holster now. The fish line seems like a good idea. When I mentioned doing this with thread before someone here was concerned using the thread because if it broke the gun would be loose. Well if it did come unsewn it would only revert back to the original fit, which still held the gun securely, just allowed a little to much play. It would still let me wear the gun until I got home to repair it.

Dental floss works well too btw. and it's about as strong as the fishing line, but ties easier.

Uncle Mike's arent so bad as far as IWB hlster's. I have one for my soon to be upgraded XD40 and I love everysecond of it. It does its job when it comes to concealment and doesnt give a whole lot to printing. Everyone has there own level of comfort and philosophy of carrying and that will reflect in the gear they utilize. The number one thing that you need to realize is that 99.5% of the population doesnt realize who is carrying and who isnt, so there is no wrong method of carrying. It all depends on you and what works best for you as far as being able to draw in that moment of truth and being able to aquire your target with the least amount of difficulty.

Stay true cowboy, and keep your eyes on the swivel.

Are you sure your way is better than theirs and that they need to be taught? If someone asks my opinion I'll usually give it, otherwise I assume their choice is as valid for them as mine is for me. Also, if I wasted my money on a box of useless holsters, well, dam.nit, they can too!

I always by an Uncle Mike's or simlar holster when I get a new gun unless I already have several holsters that will work with the gun. Gives me time to figure which other holsters I want for the gun. Plus they make good storeage holsters for blued guns.

You put up a great point. I guess I should point out that these two ask my opinion on a lot of things when it comes to carrying. They just didnt listen to my opinion this time around.
