I'm not talking about trouble with the law. Some people will not understand. If you don't care what they think, thats cool. The point, whisper, whisper is what bothers me. I don't want to advertise that I have a CCW permit. All it takes is for 1 sheep to call the cops on you. If police hear man with gun they tend to respond pretty fast.

I have gotten to the point that I don't care if someone notices my weapon. That is unless I am on a customer's premise. Most people in CO don't care or notice. We are an open carry state. When I am in my hunting attire my S&W .44 is out in the open. The only people that I notice getting nervous are of Spanish desent and look like the may not be here legal.

If you don't display your firearm, how will somebody know that you're carrying one?

Some people don't understand other law abiding people of different races, ethnicities, religions, or sexual preferences. They don't need to understand. They just need to respect the legal rights of others to live their lives unmolested. And no, I don't care what ignorant bigots think. If somebody doesn't like me wearing an NRA ballcap, they can look in a different direction. Look at what you're allowing yourself to be intimidated over. We're not even talking about open carry. You're afraid of "trouble" from wearing an NRA ballcap when you're NOT carrying. At what point do you refuse to be bullied by people who couldn't care less whether you lived or died, and who in fact prefer that you die rather than defend yourself?

Yes, I see that here in Atlanta. I call it the "Look at me! I'm a gun geek!" look. The average person on the street just thinks they are wearing a fishing vest, so I guess it's not a big deal.

The look thing is kind of funny. I have been told on quite a few occasions that I dress like a mobster. I'm generally in dress clothes, Long black dress coat, scarf drapped over my shoulders and a black brim dress hat. I think it's the hat more then anything. But I noticed that when I started sporting the hat people tend to give me "a lot space.

Edit - Above description is cold weather by the way ;) Summer is generally light dress pants and short sleeved untucked "summer" style shirt.

All of my CCW is either with IWBs under tucked shirts or with a pocket holster. Any warm weather "cover garment" just looks silly and out of character on me.

That having been said, I don't care if somebody wants to conceal his Buntline under a priest's cassock. It's none of my business.

If someone is whispering about me, I just ask them to speak up so I can hear, too. Usually gets rid of them pretty fast.

Concealed?

So, some of them were not really concealing, huh? The ones you notice are usually the ones who want to be noticed in my opinion and experience. Those of us who really want to conceal don't wear a "uniform", touch our weapons on a regular basis, and dress the way we would if we were not carrying. Maybe the clothes are just a little looser.

Although Ohio is an open carry state, I kinda take the tack we used to have to take when I worked with nukes - I can neither deny nor confirm the presence of nukes on board this vessel. (You can change the foregoing to suit the situation).

YMMV

Sooner or later, if you carry long enough you're going to print, the trick is to not make it more obvious than it has to be.

If you are wearing a vest, tactical clothing, or a 1.5 inch belt ( and you don't have a big rodeo buckle on ) it say's " hey look, I carry a gun".
Although I do wear cargo style shorts/pants, I do try to not stand out if I can help it.
