Winter Clothing - Especially Gloves

For various reasons, through any of the four distinct season where I live, I am often on foot after dark. Though not as frequent, this includes winter as well. We can go down to Zero here, obviously below 15 - 10 degrees I'm not walking around ANYTIME. But above that I may, and above can mean it's still good and cold and you need gloves - not shooting gloves but gloves that give protection to the hand and fingers from bitter cold. What's a good solution for accessing your weapon if you had to, and quick, given those conditions - as far as gloves for the winter? Anyone have experience with this problem. I haven't really found a good solution that protects my hands from the cold while allowing a quick draw and moving finger onto the trigger. What I have now wouldn't fit in the trigger guard well, and would likely cause an AD if I tried it with a loaded gun.
Thanks

For real though... I would think you could pull your glove off before reaching for the pistol, and deal with warming your hand up afterward.

I realize that things can happen in a moment, but if I were being 'approached' out on the street or in a parking lot...the glove would be coming off, pardon the pun, pretty quickly. This would be a great time to have the snubbie in a coat pocket...inside my hand which was also in the pocket. OMO

Down here...no problemo. :

My plan is to quickly remove the glove if I need to draw.

Practice, Practice, and Practice

Put all your winter garbs on, including the gloves, and practice with your EDC (unloaded of course) from the holster(s) you'll be using.

If your current gloves won't allow you to place your booger-hook on the bang-switch, practice removing your strong-side glove quickly before drawing WHILE you look for a better pair that'll allow that.

gloves

Hi, maybe try the mittens that fold back to expose your fingers, or maybe a hunting glove. Either way make sure you train with what you carry, unloaded at first then head to the range. preferably before the bitter cold so that you can get the feel comfortably then you will be prepared.

The fold back mitten is what I use. They work great.

P.S. Carry your weapon in your outer coat pocket. I do that alot. I get a lot colder temps then you.

Look at glove liners, poly pro, wool, etc, if you will not be out long. You might be surprised how well thin gloves work. Or a thin windproof fleece.

A recently fired pistol makes a great hand warmer!

Just take the glove off and have your hand in a pocket on the gun if trouble comes near.
