Fundamentals of Defensive Shooting for Women. Vickie Farnam
Monday May 26, 2008. Tuition $300.00 500 rounds of jacketed ammunition.

This defensive handgun course is designed specifically for women who want to obtain the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully handle nearly any personal protection situation. We will provide information, instruction and drills that allow students to perform to the best of their ability. Subjects include firearms safety; safe gun handling; gun storage; handgun operation (with particular attention to the autoloaders); carrying defensive handguns concealed; and drawing from a holster, purse or fanny pack. Also to be discussed are mental alertness and preparation, situation awareness, danger avoidance, as well as discretionary shooting; performing under stress, target scanning and quick identification; low light shooting exercises; and practical defensive marksmanship. Classroom subjects include the latest information on the physio/psychological aspects of lethal encounters, weapon/caliber selection criterion, and force continuum.
Safety equipment needed: eye and ear protection, baseball style hat.

Who is Vicki Farnam?

Vicki Farnam has ten years experience teaching law enforcement and civilian students all across the country with her husband, John. She is vice-president of Defense Training International, Inc., a Colorado POST certified firearms instructor, a NRA certified instructor and a member of the International Association of Law Enforcement Instructors. In August of 1997, she was a guest instructor at the Firearms Range Master Certification Course at the Wyoming Law enforcement Academy. She will present "Cross Gender Training: When Men Instruct Women and Women Instruct Men in Firearms Training" at the IALEFI conference in September. As the Senior Handgun Instructor for the Women's Shooting Sports Foundation, she developed the curriculum for instructor certification courses. She has contributed articles to "Police Marksman" and other firearms publications. As an instructor, she often works with struggling shooters and upon request, she conducts all female law enforcement classes. In addition, she is on the board of directors of the Colorado Ladies Charity Classic.

Willingness is a state of mind. READINESS is a statement of fact!
