I have been meaning to post this all weekend but just got really busy but anyways My question is in lets say an average training course, what do they teach you about home defense?

Depends on the course. Some are geared specifically toward home defense. Some are just basic skills course.

Here is an example of a good Northwest school:
Firearms Academy of Seattle, Inc. 360-978-6100

and specifically for home defense:
Firearms Academy of Seattle, Inc. 360-978-6100

If in doubt, call the school and ask them what they would recommend.
