Shot shells do have their uses, however. Decades ago, I impressed a young lady with my ability to draw my Ruger Blackhawk and shoot dragonflies out of the air. She thought I was the reincarnation of Wild Bill Hickock. Of course, I never told her they were shotshells!

We run into rattlers pretty regular out here on SAR in the Sonoran desert.
Shotshells are carried by some of the search team for that purpose but not by myself. Unless you are extremely close [ 4-5 feet ], they are basically useless on them [ like another said, it just got more upset ]. A walking stick is better protection than shotshells to my thinking on snakes that are that close. I would never risk a shotshell at 4-5 feet from a rattler that didn't affect an immediate resolution. Time wasted and you could have just backed off and kept the stick his object of attention in doing so. Brownie |

We used em as kids, to shoot mice in corn cribs. But the most fun that can be had, though maybe not safe, is shooting them big flying bumblebees the bore holes in barns. They're slow and kind of hover around a lot ... you can erase em with a load of them little pellets. Now I've said it, and I'll probably be hearing from the NBBS (National Bumble Bee Society) soon.
