I can't comment on its use in a Kimber Ultra Carry but I have heard favorable comments regarding its use in 5" guns.

TAP=Tactical Application for Police

FPD=For Personal Defense

Its basically Hornady's law enforcement ammunition for the civilian market.

I can tell you that it's pretty hot stuff. Mid 900fps (out of 5inch govt model) and very good terminal performance. It has about the same amount of muzzle flash as HydraShocks (from what I can tell). Good all around ammo from most reports.

I would say No to + P in 3" 1911s

Not because of the recoil or the flash but I have heard of

FTF because of the rapid slide cycle. I actually went the other way.

Federal Hyda-Shoks Low Recoil/High Velocity loads. They work

excellent for double taps, and don't let the name fool ya, they have

plenty of horsepower to get the job done.

The Fed low flash/recoil ammo seems to live up to its name in my 4" SA champ.

I was told by Dennis at Kimber not to shoot +P ammo through my Ultra CDP because of the recoil. Too much could crack the aluminum frame. I bought some when I first got my gun and it is still here. $15 for 20 shots. Other people say if you don't shoot it regularly, it doesn't hurt it. I probably won't risk it. Mike Z
