Was bothered by this myself.
Another mag is always a good idea, but not convienent to carry. Does no good in car. Bought a Mernickle paddle holster with a mag carrier attached to the front edge. Put the gun on and have a spare in the same space. |

For colder weather carry, I have a Fobus Roto holser for my Springifled .45 on my 3:00, and a fobus magazine carrier at my 9:00, which holds two spare mags. If i have my snub nose .357 in my Carhart pocket, I keep a speed loader in the other hand coat pocket. I try to keep things on different sides so that my firing hand never has to let go of the gun to grab the spare mag/loader

A mag (or speedloader) for all carry guns. Except for the BUG. When I used to carry the Steyr and had only one mag, the BUG was my "New York reload".

I usually have at least 1 extra magazine with me. When I'm carrying my XD 45 in the fanny pack, I'll have 2 extra mags. When I carry my Glock 26 in a Nemesis pocket holster, then I'll carry 1 extra mag on my belt. The nice thing is that I use a Glock magazine carrier, that holds the mag horizontally on the belt. It looks like a holster for a knife or multitool.

I had not always carried a spare magazine untill I had long discussion on the why you should with several very experienced trainers. I had looked at it as mostly more rounds in a fight, always good, but less important in most of the areas I travel. It was suggested that the weakest point in a semi-auto, no matter how Glock like it is, is the magazine. If you can't clear a jam with a tap rack, you'll need to super quick swap out the magazine for another. Though I often carry a BUG, considering the other EDC basics, this seems pretty essential. I carry like I train now, one or two magazines at 7 O'Clock.
