The Buick of Truth

This is a VERY eye-opening set of experiments from the masters of shooting stuff at the box o' truth:

http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/thebuickotruth.htm

Interesting to see the effect of vehicle structure on small arms rounds.

Might make you re-think your defensive plans a bit....

very intersting. thanks for the post.
btw - for the pistol tests, I wouldn't expect jhp to do as well as ball ammo.

I checked that out earlier today myself. The safety glass in those windshields is tough stuff. .22LR didn't penetrate at all!

You know the real reason they do this:

"Shooting at stuff is fun"

I like these guys also, good writeups and impressive shots (pictures). Also takes the "fun" out of shoot-em-up movies because you sit there rolling your eyes at the stupid stuff they try to pass off as "real".

A very interesting read. Sure wish I could volunteer to help do some of their shooting!

So what is the bottom line of the Buick O' Truth?
1. You do NOT want to be in the passenger compartment of a vehicle when someone opens up on it with a firearm.

As I was at Blackwater this week, my dentist was driving from his home with his wife to go to dinner when their jackass neighbor opened up on their vehicle with a firearm. His wife is dead and he is still in the intensive care unit on a vent at UVA.

If someone starts shooting at you while you are in a vehicle, get the hell out of there NOW. Hit the accelerator and if you have to run the ******* over, do it.

A car provides little in the way of cover, but it DOES give you the power to move fast which makes you harder to hit. Use that to your advantage.

A reality mention too!
