I carry Federal HSTs and Federal Tactical Bonded. Have you seen the expansion on the HSTs?!!
The gold dots and federal rounds are made by the same company (ATK). IMO the HSTs are slightly better. I wouldn't hesitate carrying Gold dots though....The local PDs carry them! |

Is the "enhanced" Ranger-T something new, or is it another name for the same Ranger-T?

Hmmm, I wonder how much better it is than the original Ranger-T. Now I have another one to choose from.

![]() ![]() ![]() See how the petals fold straight back with just the "talons" pointing out? Well, the new "enhanced" Ranger-T is supposed to spread further out to the sides like a starfish increasing its size and the wound channel it creates. The .45 rounds are supposed to spread out over an inch from tip to tip. Last edited by Whyveear; August 17th, 2007 at 02:47 PM. |

In my duty Glock and my sub (.40) I carry Speer 180 gr. GDHP. In my Airweight it's 135gr. GDHP, which IMO is by far the best .38 performer. When a round is designed specifically for a certain handgun it's a good pick.

Large calibers
After testing on white tail deer, I prefer a .41 magnum with a 180 grain semi jacketed hollow point. Exit wounds are the size of 50 cent pieces. This is from a Model 57 with 4" barrel. If close enough muzzle flash will catch BG's clothes on fire.

After years of carrying Gold Dot (.45acp), I switched to HST2. I moved to an area where it was impossible to find Gold Dot and therefore went on a search for the latest and greatest. Since I was going to have to order it anyway, I figured I'd let science decide for me. The fact that HST gets SO FLIPPIN HUGE, and that it was Federal, tipped the scale. If I couldn't find a reliable source for HST2, I would happily go back to Gold Dot without reservation.
I must admit, the above pics of Ranger-T are very impressive. No Cor-Boom for me.

None of the above. I prefer Remington Golden Sabres. They are reliable and accurate out of my pistols and have a good record.
