Recoil Springs and +P .45ACP

I just heard back from Springfield that it is fine to feed +P to my full-size, steel-frame GI.

I've been looking at the available ammo and have narrowed it down to Hornady TAP, Corbon, and Speer Gold Dot. I am limiting myself to either the 200gr or the 230 gr loads because one of the reasons I carry a .45 is the big, heavy bullet.

My question is: which bullet weight will have the best chance of functioning well with the standard recoil spring?

I'm not too keen to change springs when I shoot standard load practice ammo.

Sprngfield told me that +P stuff would be OK,even in my Micro Compact. Not for extended range work, but for carry and practice purposes. They also said that my springs should last about 3500 rounds. I'm a bit concerned about that one.

Best to change springs on any semi-auto every 5,000 rounds for reliability and prevent beating up the handgun.

I change my recoil springs every 2000 rounds - give or take. Better safe than sorry, and they're pretty cheap. It shouldn't matter what bullet weight really - your gun will let you know what works and what doesn't. A stronger recoil spring works both ways - it can slow opening, but that means it slams shut harder. Stick with the stock one IMO.
