I voted for .38. I unserstand the concept that it is better to have a .22 than nothing. But there are some many handguns out there that are not much bigger than a .22 that are chambered for .38 and 9mm. I own a Beretta in .22 and a Keltec in .380. But I would not carry them as primarys.

Most of the time I carry .40 S&W.

.38 Spl or 9mm. MAYBE down to .380 if you just had no other option. I carry a G19 w/ Gold Dot +P and think it is enough gun but anything less just isn't my cup of tea. The right tools for the right job.

A 22 would be fine in the absence of the other calibers.

I don't currently carry anything less than a 9mm, but I voted .380 because I have a bersa thunder 380CC and I have and would carry it as a backup to my XD45 if my PM9 was out of business for some reason.
