You should let your pistol make the decision for you.

Neither I used to use Rangers and Remmington Golden Sabers until I did some more research and tests of my own. Than I switched to what I have in my avatar Federal HST. They are by far the best SD round made IMO. In every test I have done or have seen they consistently out perform all the other premium rounds. They are the most accurate and have the most consistent expansion and penetration through any media. They always look like this no matter what I shoot them through
![]() For some nice comparison pics and info take a look at Ballistic Tests Index 9mm Ballistic Test # 1 And the results............. Round 3 - 9mm JHP's through Tshirts Denim testing 9mm, .45ACP, 357 magnum If you like I have some links to some LEO PDF files that have more specific data. Ammunition To Go has great prices and service From Sticks on his Federal HST vs, Hydra-Shock pics thread ![]()

Of the two, whichever worked best in my specific gun. If neither, then whichever other round I found that worked best in my specific gun. It so happens that the round that does this best in my CZ P-01 is the DoubleTap 9mm JHP 124gr +P, which uses the Speer Gold Dot bullet. Why S.GD? Beyond the fact that it's the best-cycling round I've found, consideration was based on reputation and performance, mainly.

My 9mm's with barrels shorter than 4 inches get +P. Those with barrels that are 4 inches or more get standard pressure loads for defensive use. The Gold Dots perform very well for me.

I actually did decide to go with the Federal HST round. It seemed to do well in a lot of testing that I saw. Plus Ammunition to go has them for a good price per 50, so I can afford to shoot them a lot more. Thanks for all the info and for voting guys!
