.40 s&w?

I know that a 4" barrel is suppose to be the optimum length for this caliber. Was wondering would I be giving up a lot if I was to drop down to a 3.5" barrel in a kahr k40, just curious?

Not much.
That 3.5" will kill just as well as the 4" at normal self defense ranges.

Yep......those bullets are always going the fastest when they leave the muzzle.

Half an inch isn't going to make much if any difference at normal self defense ranges.

Go ahead and drop down to a 3.5 inch barrel if you want. It shouldn't hinder you at all.
