10MM

Hi
What does every one think about 10mm for a carry cal.? Would you prefer 10mm over 45acp or 9mm.

A guy in Arizona was hiking and shot a derelict that attacked him with a 10mm,they convicted him because it was such a big powerfull gun.I think ammo is expensive and not readily available everywhere you might go.

I'm choosing the 45 or 9mm over the 10mm. More controllable for me. Plus the cost of ammo.

Well it would be plenty adequate . I've been wanting a 10mm for years now, will probably pick one up at some point. A lot of folks who also have to worry about 4 legged creatures like carrying 10mm's. If you find a platform that you shoot well, I say go for it.

Nothing wrong with a 10MM.
WIth the right ammo, its probably the best self defense caliber out there.

The 10mm is a fine caliber if you can handle it. It basically is a .40 cal long. The FBI issued the caliber for a while until the smaller agents and the females could not do well with it. That is how Smith and Wesson helped come up with the .40, or 10 mm short. Glock makes an excellent example in the model 29. If the jury convicted on caliber alone then that guy should ask for his money back from his defense attorney.

Exactly. Pick a caliber and platform that's well-suited to you, then make sure that you know the law regarding use of deadly force. If you are clearly justified in shooting, then the weapon should be not be a factor.

10mm has a wide range of use. It is loaded from 40 S&W power levels to full power 10mm. Usefull for defense against man and critters.

I happen to have a Colt 'Delta Elite' that is a "safe queen". It's simply too bulky, big and heavy for use as a concealed carry pistol. As a backup to a high powered rifle while hunting big game, it's perfect!! Full power loads are easily controlled.

When looking at purchasing, I normally look at the cost per round to fire that firearm. I'm just thrifty that way. Of course that is not the only factor, but it is important.
