I just got a heck of great deal on 9mm ammo from Wal-Mart. I was visiting the candy store and was passing a local Wal-Mart. I checked their ammo inventory and discovered they just received a shipment in the day before. They had a fairly good variety of ammunition. I took the liberty of buying 3 boxes of 9mm ammo. As I was chatting with the sales person I wasn't paying much attention to the change I had received. When I arrived home I looked at my receipt. Instead of changing me for 3 boxes she actually changed me for only ONE box! I paid around $20.00 for 300 rounds of 9mm ammo! Is that a heck of a deal or what? lol

While I was at the candy store I bought a Bianchi Model 84 Snaplock holster. This is the first quality leather holster I've bought for my G26. So far I'm impressed with the quality of this holster. Now only if my CFP would arrive for me to wear it in public. So all in all, I had a good day today.

Picked up a couple of boxes of 40S&W Blazer Brass @ $12.97 each today at local WM. Guy said they had even more in the back....but no 45ACP when I asked. Still...Wal Mart is beating other shops' prices.

My local WM always seems to have Blazer Brass .40 in stock @ $12.97. When I purchased my XDm I was considering a .40, but I knew it was going to be cheaper in the long run ($10 less per 100 rds.) to shoot the 9mm.

It's hit or miss here in North Texas, the supply truck delivers on Thursday and if you're not first in line it's no sale. I see very little 45 ACP make it to the shelf, I've got around 500 rd of range ammo and try to buy 100 rds every 2 weeks. The last delivery was only 1000 rd of ACP and didn't last a day. Sports department tells me Wally let the ammo agreement slip and now they get to suck hind teet so to speak.

I would go back and pay for 2 more boxes, then leave the boxes at the store. Reason being I would not want the associate to get in trouble (for only charging one) but also because I don't like taking something I have not paid for.

The guy at the counter here said they got a couple of cases of handgun ammo in just before he left work and the next day when he came in it was all gone.

I had been picking up a box of 30-30 Federal every few trips, becuase it is so cheap. I've been buying it on and off for over a year now at $10.97 a box. I don't know if I could load it myself much cheaper. Anyway, I was in there getting some milk and bread and decided to pick up another box while I was in and to check the empty handgun ammo shelves. Yep, still empty. To my suprise the 30-30 shelf was empty too. All brands. The guy said some farmer in overalls came in and bought every box they had, regardless of manufacturer, grain weight, or price. He just said "Give me all of 'em."

Oh, well, I have plenty anyway, and plenty of supplies and brass to make more if need be, but I think this further illustrates the "panic". You kinda get a feeling that when some farmer feels the need to stockpile ammo for his old Winchester things might be getting a bit sticky for some reason.

The only thing i'm a bit short on is .40 cal, which really, I could do without. God knows I have enough other stuff. Anyway, as much as I hate Dicks Sporting Goods, they just sent me a $10 coupon in the mail, so I guess I'll stop in there tomorrow when I'm in Topeka and pick up some .40 cal just for good measure. If they have any that is.

I'd go back and pay for the boxes because if they come up short the folks there will be put under a cloud of suspicion for a "theft" and there may even be polygraphs and things could get ugly. I'd hate to ruin somebody's reputation for a mistake, especially when I can correct it. But maybe that's just me & Thanis.

A few years ago, well okay about 10 years ago, I was doing the same thing for my Winchester "Trapper" carbine in thutty thutty and when I went to the gun shows I discovered that Federal was running a long term sale on 150 and 170 gr ammo and they were even stuffing an extra 5 rounds into the boxes. They were at that time selling for ummmmm (get ready) about $8.97 a box of the extra capacity! It was that way for a couple of years and I bought 3 or 4 boxes of the stuff every dang show! There are usually multiple shows in this area and split between the two larger southern counties in the state (Miami Dade & Broward) & I was hitting them in both counties. I only have the one 30-30 but I'll bet I have 750-1000 rds of both those bullet weights in that caliber.
