sporatic supply

I travel a reasonable amount in central florida, and I stop when conveinent, for a couple of weeks couldn't find anything anywhere, then one day in Walmart for something else I went by the ammo counter which I always do and there were to my suprise, 3 mega packs 250 rds. of UMC 9mm, 10 or so boxes of WWB 9mm 100rd packs, and 10 or so 50 rd packs of 9mm UMC, as well as 32 acp, 40 S&W, 357 sig and mag, 38 spc, just abou every normal handgun caliber was represented except for 380 (haven't seen those guys in about 2 months), I just bought 2 of the 3 mega packs (we are limited to 6 boxes) leaving some for my fellow shooters and one box was for a friend. Haven't seen any since... seems to come spordically and leave quickly!

Yup, can be any day. Most big stores get one to two trucks per night. It could be on any of them. During the day, they can look at their Prenotification Report and see if a case quantity is coming. By mid afternoon, they can print off the Warehouse Receiving Detail Report, to see if any individual boxes are coming in. Some stores print these off ahead of time to prepare for the freight, and decide where it all goes, some stores don't worry about it, until the truck opens and the freight stacks up.

one of my local WM said they get ammo 2 or 3 times a week, varying in amounts and calibers, they never know what they're getting

Trust me, they know what they're receiving because they have manifests. They want you and the other guys calling in for ammo checks to believe otherwise. This means less work they have to perform and limits the conversations to "IDK".

I got ammo yesterday. Walmart's 3 box per customer policy is a joke. The lady at the counter told me that if I bought my 3 box limit, left the store, put the ammo in my car and came back, she would be cool with me buying more ammo. She said that there is no official definition on what "3 box per customer limit" is...as in...when am I a new customer? Day, hour, entry and reentry...

I did my first WWW today and went to the sporting goods counter. The gentleman there told me to come at 7am which is when the ammo truck pulls in with limited ammo. The ammo runs out by 2 pm.
