I haven't seen 9mm at my local WW in about 2 months. Two nights ago I stopped by and they said they'd only seen two boxes come in all week and it was bought immediately.

I checked back this morning on my way to work and they had .25's and .32's which I hadn't seen in stock in over a month, but when I asked about 9mm the dept mgr said she didn't know when they'd get more in, that the warehouse was out of stock and they would receive it at the store 3 days after the warehouse received it.

So, apparently the ammo drought isn't getting better - at least not for 9mm - at least not in VA - at my WW.

Our 9 and 45 is now gone, but we still have 25, 32, 40, 357, and 44, plus lots of rifle calibers.

Just came back from shooting PDs in Colorado. Lamar CO had full stock in handgun ammo, including wwb .380 100 packs. I almost bought some to resell here, but my conscience wouldn't let me.

My luck is slowly improving. I've found 5.56 twice in the past two weeks. A few days ago I found 9mm and some .40. I haven't seen any of these in at least five or six months. A caveat is that my latest find was in a small town Wally World that I stopped at on a lark while I was traveling. I don't think I would have had luck here in the cities.

So ... it "feels like" ammo availability is slowly returning. Maybe by Fall I'll be able to buy what I want when I want instead of buying ANYTHING that hits the shelf. I've had to stoop pretty low ... bought some Wolf back in January.

still little to NO handgun ammo available @ any WW in the area. the range i frequent has plenty @ a high price, infact when i puled in the parking lot the other day about 4 or 5 employees where huddle around the owners car. they apeared to pull about 30 WW bags from the trunk that contained BB.

that is 90% of the problem there is no ammo @ wally world, between the shops and the gunshow speculators riding around cleaning everyone in the area out everyday...

If you have cooperative staff (which we do) in sporting goods they can check for availability within any mileage range. They use that little scan gun they carry and it tells them what is in stock at any Walmart store. Ran a check last night and found that there were 4 boxes of .38 special available within a 250 mile circle! Since those stores only sell ammo between 0600 and 1000, my chances of getting any are slim to none. Hoarders camp outside store in early morning and glom up everything in sight. (This is not urban legend, I have gone down and watched them at our store!) Not so much anymore as there hasn't been any ammo available. I did score some Magtech .38 Special online and I am in the backorder line at Midway, USA.

I haven't seen any at WW for months, but a local gun shop had an entire table of ammo Monday, including handgun ammo.

He only had 3 boxes of .380, with a 1-box customer limit. That was gone by the time I left the store.

He had several boxes of 9mm, with a 3-box customer limit. Still some there as of yesterday.

I haven't seen that much ammo in one place since last Fall. The prices were $19.95 for 50 Remington 9mm, and $21.95 for 50 WWB 9mm.

When I was at WW the other morning they had boxes of 100 WWBox in 9mm and 40. I didn't take too much time to see what else they had, but if they are starting to see boxes on the shelf for a little while we are getting close to the end of the shortage.

BTW, I didn't bother to buy any since I have more than enough currently.

I monitor 4-5 WMT's in the area and they all say the same thing...nothing there and no idea if or when anything will come in. When supply does arrive it's maybe a few boxes. Absolutely no .380.

Same story at a Walmart near me. The clerk tells me there's a line of people waiting every day as soon as she comes in. I pointed out to her that these may not be regular customers. These people in line every day may in fact work for smaller retailers and distributors who have sent them out to buy up any and all available ammo.

Since Walmart is one of the country's largest suppliers of ammunition, they may be getting the lion's share of any retail ammunition coming from the factories. I suspect what little they're getting is getting sucked up by smaller retailers and distributors as soon as it hits the shelves.

I suggested that she not only limit the amount of purchases, but that they distribute the ammo at unpredictable times throughout the day to make it more difficult for the resellers. I could see my comments were an eye opener for the clerk, but I haven't been back to see if they've changed their policy.

They do seem to be getting ammo every few days, but it's all gone in just a matter of minutes.
