FYI

Nobody can sell ammunition after June 30, 2009 // Current

Now, I think this answers why production was not increased, others will state this is the true cause of the shortage. Indirect good new for me. Looks like a few states will be taken off the list of receiving ammo after June 30.

I have not been able to find any handgun ammo on the shelf at my local, (Collierville, TN) Walmart for months now.

I was there last night and they have now posted a sign limiting purchases to 2 boxes per caliber per customer.

IMO, the rationing of ammo is a bad development. I would rather the shelves be empty, and sooner or later the demand curve evens out.

The darndest thing happened today.

I walked into the smallest Wal-Mart that I have ever been in today, in a little Ks town and there was lots of 100 count boxes of 9mm and 38 spl on the shelf as well as most other types of ammo you could want. A freind of mine lives in that (undisclosed) town and has told me that they had penty of ammo there all along. Well, he was right, I confirmed it for myself today. I didn't buy any, 'cause I didn't need it, but it sure enough is there.

Since he is my buddy, I can't advertise where it is and have everyone rush into town and wipe them out. But we can all sleep well tonight knowing that at least one Wal-Mart has some ammo.

Still nothing I'm looking for at my local WM...however arrived at about 8:00 AM...found a hidden stash of bulk .22 LR HV 36 gr ammo. Considered, then put it down.

Found 800 rounds of WWB 9mm at the local wally world today- bought 600, left 200. They had some .380, .40, and .45 this morning but were sold out by the time I got there.

Results of my mid-day Saturday visit to a Corpus Christi, Texas WalMart store: no 380, 38, or 45ACP on the shelf, but dozens of 50 rd boxes of Federal Champion 9mm 115 FMJ-RN (labeled as WM5199) for $8.97/box.

Hadn't seen this Federal packaging in the past at a WalMart, only W-W white box or Remington UMC. The sign at the counter indicated a 6 box limit, but I surprised the cashier and only bought 4.

The shortage must be coming to an end. Went to my local WM today and just happen to drop by the sports counter - lo and behold they had .38, .40, .45 and .22 bulk. Since I didn't need any of most of it I elected to take one box of the .22 bulk. By the way I went in at 1:30 PM.
