I've been keeping an eye on the new Mt. Vernon, WA. SuperWM. I've been there twice in the last month that they have actually had .40 or 9mm on the shelf. The first time I bought the only box of .40 they had, the second time, last night, I bought the only TWO boxes of .40 they had.
I quizzed the salesdroid about when they did their shelf stocking and he was pretty obscure, "Oh, sometimes at night and sometimes in the morning". I got the feeling he was in cahoots with whomever has been raiding the shelves of all their .38, .357, 9mm, and .40. Plenty of other stuff to be had if you shoot shotguns or rifles.
No big deal really, I usually order my ammo online, but it would be nice to be able to walk into a local store and buy some!

C hawk Glock, I am so sorry if I have offended your sense of ammo equality for all. I promise to stop buying 9mm ammo once I get 100,000 rounds in my care and custody (I will then begin working on .40 S&W).

I make no apologies for buying any and all ammo I can get my hands on (budget allowing) especially considering I go thru around 600 rounds a month. Ammo is the only investment I have that is going up in value.

Lol... this reminded me of that "Invest in Gold" commercial... Funny though, my 401k doesn't have an "ammo investment" fund... must be managed by liberals... :(

I go into the Lakewood, WA store and they haven't had any ammo for at least 6 months. I keep hearing about other locations that get it but ours doesn't. The sales guys say it trickles in here and there but not in any quantity.

Good thing I reload, except now...no primers!!!

I'll get 6 boxes at lunch, 6 boxes after work, and if I have time in the morning, 6 boxes in the morning. They only get large shipments of federal 9mm every once in a while, so i try to pick as much up as I can. I can't see Ammo prices going down anytime soon, and I figure get it while I can. It doesn't exactly go bad (especially stored well) so what's the harm?

Yeah, I kinda violate the 6 per customer per day, but there's a different employee every time.
You must have cash running out your arse. I cant afford more than a box or two a week. There is plenty of ammo availiable. Wal-mart is just phaseing it out. If you go in any of the new Wal-marts in my area they do not even sell guns and the ammo shelf is one small cabinet. Most do not sell guns anymore at all. I guess its the "PC" thing to do. I give my bussiness to the local gun shop.

Tony don't go buying up all my .40S&W!

Not really... I don't splurge on anything else. This is my only hobby... my only "non-essential" purchases. Plus it's money I either spend now, or later. I've been shooting a couple hundred rounds a week since I'm a new shooter and need all the experience I can. Plus wanted to get the new gun "broken in"...

Don't worry I won't be in your neck of the woods until January plus I won't be able to reach my 9mm goal for awhile anyways. As much as I am wanting to buy ammo I am not being stupid about the prices I pay as that kind of defeats the purpose.

Guns and ammo are being phased out in the Walmarts that either have community problems with citizens who are anti-gun or where they just don't have a viable market. In some rural areas the Walmarts have actually become more busy and have larger gun departments. Our Walmart here (rural Tennessee) now carries more guns than ever ( I have purchased 5 in the last year.). Most of the guns carried are for hunting (we live in a deer and turkey "rich" area) so we don't have to worry about truck load buy ups of the weapons.
They are actively "bugging" the warehouses for more ammo. Our problem is to get there before the "Citizen's Militia" bunch buy it all up.

Don't get too riled about my use of the term Militia. I served 30 years in the USMC and have been a member of the Tennessee State Guard for 18 years. Most of these "Militia" members used to wear white sheets and burn crosses. They are just using the election as an excuse to go back to some bad old habits. I don't think they are after the Administration, I think they are after my property and my wallet (as their prior criminal records will attest.) They also now have a high profile black man they can create fear around.

I know this doesn't apply to the Tea Party guys ( honest dissidents) who are stocking up on ammo, these are good people, but it is pretty indicative of what we have to contend with in our area.

On the down side, the Walmart 20 miles from here, in a city area, doesn't carry guns or ammo anymore. That pretty much reflects the Liberal views of the city population however, more so than any Walmart corporate policy.
