A 22 remarkable survival

Just happened while slurping some coffee, to watch a few minutes of ''FBI Files'' on TV. Rare I get to watch anything, let alone what I want to see!

A mob (and hit man) guy in Philly, back in 80's or so I think, who had ''gone over'' to help Feds and had been wired a few times, went to a meet to get instructions for a new ''book-keeping'' job - read ''collections''!

He was not wired that time but - one other guy went to bathroom (ostensibly), picked up a small .22 taped to underside of flush tank - and came back in, proceeding to fire three close range shots at this guy's head!!!!!!!

The guy get's up and is still functional and proceeds to go at the shooter, with a knife IIRC.

Bottom line was - three head shots with .22 and he lived. Two weeks later he was out of hospital and still helping the Feds gather up all the mobsters.

It is well known that the .22 can be very lethal - it's a fave for hit men but seems here was a classic case of bullets tracking round inside cranium along bone and not doing major cerebellar damage.!

Freaky perhaps but - astonishing too - I mean, THREE shots. Shucks. Wish I had a link.

If a BG dies as the result of pointing a gun at me, then he has merely succumbed to an occupational hazard of being a thug

When my dad was working in the ER in northern WI, a guy was brought in as an attempted suicide. Shot himself 6 TIMES with a 22 revolver, none of the bullets penetrated his skull.

Another guy near LaCrosse WI killed himself down in the Black River bottoms when I was in high school. Shot himself under the chin with a shotgun. When the search team found him, he had left a bloody trail wandering in circles until he finally expired from blood loss. They estimated he had been concious and mobile for at 20-30 min after the shot. Pretty gruesome stuff...

I believe that ANY freaky thing can happen with the human body with projectiles of any size, power, & configuration.
We are "remarkable things" the way we are constructed.
One person dies after getting shot with a single BB pellet to the chest & another "lives on" to fight back hard after catching five rounds of 00Buck COM. Go figure!

The human body is "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14)
It's indeed amazing what can happen regarding these types of scenarios...
