When I carry a 9mm iit usually has Cor-Bon 115 gn, Or the 115gn Speer GDHP. The reason the 147 gn hp. get such a bad rep. is due to their poor performance in the Miami shootout in '86. The FBI actually had that round created in hope of duplicating their 38sp "FBI" load performance. They found that loading them Sub-Sonic made for better accuracy. But how they worked in the field was a different story. I have loaded 147 gn hp to a +p level for a friend's carbine , and the results were impressive.

The rd used in the Miami shooting was the 115 gr W-W Silvertip. We had used the same rd in the early 80s for just a few months when we pulled it. During a shooting had a situation where the Silvertip failed to penetrate deep enough. When the FBI looked at going to the 115 gr ST we explained what our feelings were about it. The FBI said at the time that their shootings were different than ours and they were wanting rapid expansion type rd. In 1986 they got the same results. Fortunately for us it didn't cost us the lives of any of our people.

Not to get off topic, but how did they mean their shootings were different? Poor performance is poor performance.

G26 with Federal HST 147gr. Based on my personal tests (link to follow) and some other people's testing, i feel this is a wicked round.

Nice link, I might need to do a test with wet phonebooks some time soon. I'm trying to find the best JHP aswell and I like to test and see the result myself. Just gives me another reason to go shooting.

124 Gold Dots, not +P, so I can practice with 124 CCI/Speer/Lawman that will impact and recoil the same.
