I was told by a Walmart employee that ammo shortages should be better in June also. He said He was told that production was starting to catch up with the backorders.

I got the exact same e-mail. Hope I actually get it!

I guess I have been getting lucky. My wife and I have picked up 3,600 rounds of 9mm at Walmart this past week (limit 6 boxes per person, per day). Paid $0.187 per round for the Blazer Brass and $0.191 per round for the Winchester.

I am starting to see a lot more ammo floating around than I have in the last 6-months.

Since then Remington has increased production.

I told a Remington rep at the NRA convention that I heard they were running 25 hours a day (that's not a typo), she replied "eight days a week."

Well, it's mid-June now and I don't see ammo supplies easing up any.

I would believe that Winchester and Remington stepped up production picked up some of each from my local WW over the past 2 week. Both times I went it was late in the day and they still had stock on the shelves. Was by there today and they were out but my WW seems to be getting some in every few days.

the guy in the gun area at cabelas told me and my buddy that if you order on the internet... and you order in the box, you will get your order faster than if you order the bulk. for some reason if you order 300 in boxes you will get them faster than 300 in bulk. he couldnt explain why... but just said thats what has been happening.

I think as people have stocked up on ammo and their disposable income has disappeared because they spent it on ammo, the supply has finally caught up with demand. I think all of it was exacerbated by the NRA's firearms salesman of the year, Barack Obama. Supplies should start stabilizing from what I am hearing around some of my contacts. I have just about all of the defensive rounds I need, now I am going to start getting more components so I can begin reloading.

I know one thing I have noticed when taking the .22 out for a little practice at the range - A lot less brass lying around.....

Roger that. I volunteer at the hunter ed. range and used to get quite a bit of brass that people left behind. Yesterday, there were only 3 shooters shooting centefire cartridges and they all kept their brass.

Two of them do not reload as of now, but are saving their brass in the expectation of beginning to do so.

I agree that I've noticed it easing up too! 2-3 months ago I couldn't find ammo anywhere. Now they have it at WalMart locally. On 4 different occasions I've seen WWB 9mm 100 packs in stock. I've also see them with 40, .45 and 32. The local gun shop has also had everything but 380. Even online I'm seeing more of it. I think that a previous poster hit the nail on the head with the disposable income angle. That plus the hoarders are maybe reaching the point where they feel comfortable with their personal supply and now just replacing what they shoot?

I wrote a message to the Governor of Montana, requesting information about the ammo shortage and his reply was: The ammo will be restocked on the shelves by Hunting season. Not to worry the manufactures are working hard to restock the surrounding distribution centers for the public in reloading and hunting ammo. So have patience it will come soon..
