I am wondering if the bulk 250 blocks of 9mm will be back in Academy stores? I tend to buy more ammo from Academy than Walmart.

I ordered 6 boxes of .380 from Cabelas on April 15th. Every two weeks they would extend the shipping date. After a little over 3 months, they shipped the order out yesterday.

I have seen the availability of 9mm, .40 and .223 as well as .22 and .45 steadily improving in my region.

Handgun ammo has started (in the last month or so) to become better stocked in the Wal-Mart I shop at but not as much rifle ammo. However, I've heard that the manufacturers are going to switch over to rifle ammo soon in preperation for hunting season, which means another hangun ammo shortage.

BTW: By better stocked, I mean boxes of 9mm, 40, 357, etc. stay on the shelf for more than a day before they are all gone and tend to show back up in a couple days. Glad I don't have a 380 though, there is still a tag on the shelf where it goes but that section hasn't seen anything but dust in as long as I can remember.

I think the ammo supplies are on their way back up, but it will probably be the other side of hunting season before you can actually expect to walk in to the store and buy what you need first time.

Until Washington figures out that an endless supply of money is not created from printing presses, there will be a shortage of ammunition.

Take this with a grain of salt, but the sporting goods manager at Wal-Mart said that the manufacturers are saying they will be caught up around October.

Not sure if I believe that or not, but that's what the guy told me, so I figured I'd pass it along. It's probably about as accurate as anything else out there; which is to say, not very. Certainly at least as accurate as the title of this thread though.

I'm not doubting you and I hope he is right. The only thing the sporting good managers at the Wal Marts around here can tell you is distrobution sends it out as they get it.
