EFMJ (expandable full metal jacket) ammo by Federal, low recoil. has the feel of shooting target rounds. very easy to control. easy to put those EFMJ bullets on target.

Hello.

Here's a round of expanded Hornady TAP fired from a Browning Hi Power into wetpack.


This stuff has proven extremely accurate in several 9mm pistols.


These two Hornady 124-gr. XTP's were handloaded to just over 1200 ft/sec. The one on the left was recovered from a javelina I killed with it. The one on the right was shot into water.

Winchester 127-gr. +P+ (RA9TA) has proven very consistent for me from CZ-75's, Hi Powers, and a Glock 17.


These were fired from a Browning Hi Power. Left to right: wetpack, deer, water.

Right now, the 9mm "house gun" is loaded with the Winchester or Corbon's 115-gr. DPX +P, which has also proven very consistent in its expansion characteristics and is designed to penetrate at least 12" in 10% ballistic gelatin. (Of the several DPX loads I've tried, this one remains my favorite.)

Great info. I'll have to test all three of those rounds. I already have the Hornadys and am interested in the Corbons. Why do the Corbons not have a lead core? How does this affect the rounds performance and are all Corbon 115 JHPs this way?

Once more thx to you Steve for some excellent info.

I am very excited almost to compare the 124 XTP's - wetpack/javelina, and the Winchester 127-gr. +P+ (RA9TA) comparison re wetpack and deer.

What these do show most impressively (to me) is that wetpack results do in fact bear out some good correlation with live critter results.

Must say too - that DPX is pretty darned impressive!

I carried Hydra-Shock when I carry my Glock 26 or 19. We used them for over 10 plus years on duty before they changed us over to .40 cal. You cannot go wrong with them or other named brands. You must find the ammo that your gun likes. This is the ammo that you will want to carry. All/each gun will like a certain type or brand of ammo. Find this out and you will have a gun that you can carry. This means that you will need to shoot well over 300 plus rounds of each brand in your gun, Do not be/act cheep spend the money, your life depends on it.

Hello, '75scout. Corbon offers traditional JHP's in 9mm in 90, 115, and 125 grains. The DPX (a Barnes X-bullet of homogeneous construction) is loaded a bit slower as its expands well and increasing velocity tends to increase its penetration...perhaps too much. Drop by their site at www.corbon.com and take a look at "Traditional JHP's", DPX, and so forth.

The thing is my gun (GLOCK 26) will eat anything. It'll shoot Wolf but I hate putting those steel cases in my gun and WWB 100rd value pack is just as cheap. 1200-1300 rds with no malfunctions of anykind. As far as JHPs go I've only tested 124 Hydras and 124 +P Rem Gold Sabers. I've put about 100 Hydras through it and find it to be very accurate.
